Dd will end up in trainers when she's a bridesmaid unless you can help me

Dd1 is disabled, wears orthotic splints on her feet. Really only lace-up shoes work, or shoes with high fronts - so no ballet shoes, sandals, boots, heels, etc, etc.

She tends to wear quite funky trainers outside school, and boy-style black shoes for school.

She is going to be a bridesmaid at the end of the month and I am tearing my hair out googling for shoes. Everything is ballet shoes or Mary Janes. Does no-one sell rather lovely delicate trainer-type shoes? Or even something different like a jewelled converse boot?

Have tried Next, Monsoon, Converse, Lelli Kelly [retch], Bhs - anyone else for me to try?

I want them too Hathor, but I am not fit to be let loose in charge of pale coloured shoes.
An ex boyfriend had the lovliest pair of silver shiny docs. Happy memories Grin

WerthersUnOriginal · 06/07/2012 11:52

Some tutorials on YouTube about customising shoes and trainers.

I'm quite tempted now to have a try myself for dds Smile

hathorisaskingaquestion · 06/07/2012 11:55

I had purple DMs with yellow laces when I was a teenager.

My mother binned them.

She has not yet been forgiven, and it was nearly 30 20 years ago.

She's 11 - a size 3. I love LOTS of those but a lot don't have the right size.

I'm certainly feeling more hopeful now though Smile there are loads to go at here

SPortBlacksand · 06/07/2012 11:59

Although i must admit they are pricey when their feet grow so quickly...i made DS1 wait until he was a size 5 to buy some because then i can have them when he outgrows them Grin

Do any in particular stand out Cappster ? We can search further based on those ?

TraceyWasALoner · 06/07/2012 12:05

What about Toms?

PrettyPrinceofParties · 06/07/2012 12:05

I had green doc martins as a teen and customised them using glitter glue. It stayed on surprisingly well and was still there long after the leather split and I eventually threw them out. Alternatively you could get some plain converse and do them up with fabric pens and glue on rhinestones.

I'm inspired now! Although, I really want these

WineOhWhy · 06/07/2012 12:06

DD has these whihch go up to size 3: www.ilovegorgeous.co.uk/accessories/shoes/sparkly-plimsoll-silver.html

They also have these: www.ilovegorgeous.co.uk/accessories/shoes/silver-bowler-shoes.html, although they only go up to a 2 (otherwise I woudl get them!) Maybe large sizes?

Cappster · 06/07/2012 12:12

WerthersUnOriginal · 06/07/2012 12:13

These are very pretty

EldritchCleavage · 06/07/2012 12:17

Yoox.com may be a good bet. They deliver fast and returns are free.
I like these and these (pricey) and best of all these.
There are more.

Itsgottabebags · 06/07/2012 13:22

OP as soon as I read your post those shoes sprung to mind. I saw then IRL yesterday in KG. I am tempted by them myself but they would not last five minutes for me!
