I am sick of spending a fortune trying new products and wondered if anyone had actually seen any results from any anti-ageing products and if so, what were they?

ooh aspirin face mask! gonna check that out.

lurkingaround · 05/07/2012 20:52

I presume the aspirin is a salicylic acid peel?

Pinot · 06/07/2012 12:04

OCM + argan oil

MistyRocks · 06/07/2012 20:57

pinot speaks sense!

Pinot · 06/07/2012 21:04

how was the bag?

Thanks lovely!

I have had some good results from Boots P&P, I've been using it for around 3 years.

I have just started using some Elemis products (thanks Pinot for the tip off on the cheap offer!), the Tri-enzyme face wash and the pro-collagen marine cream. The pores on my nose have really shrunk, and the tiny lines that were developing under my eyes have almost gone.

fucking beautiful look on my fb pics

no worries my dear ;)

Retin A at night. I haven't used it but know it's THE one to use. Takes a while to kick in but can really benefit the skin much more then the others. My dermatologist recommends it. Also sun screen

somewherebecomingrain · 07/07/2012 09:05

where do you get retin-a?

somewherebecomingrain · 07/07/2012 09:05

i'm gonna put aspirin on my butt

pinguthepenguin · 07/07/2012 09:31

Yeah- where can I get some retin-A?Grin

ameliagrey · 07/07/2012 09:43

I suppose it depends on what you mean OP by "anti-ageing"!

The biggest factor in skin damage is sunlight ( and smoking and alcohol)- and once your skin is damaged only surgery or very powerful retinol products or skin peels can help. Botox and fillers can help repair some damage but not permanently.

I swear by sun block 365 days of the year.

Mositurisers cannot eradicate wrinkles but they can plump up your skin while you use them.

Anti-ageing is really about lifestyle and genes. Good diet, exercise, no smoking or sun, and that's the best you can do.

Pinot · 07/07/2012 09:57

Ali yay! Glad you got it and like it!

Evizza · 07/07/2012 21:33

Thanks for the advice everyone Smile

I asked as I have a few lines which are starting to become permanent so just wondered if there was anything which would help them to look less noticeable??

My skin is in crappy condition though so maybe improving it would make the lines less of a worry for me...

So how would I do this asprin face mask then? I have some non-dispersible tablets so just need to know what to do with them. Cheers x

If I were you Evizza, I would cut to the chase and get some Retin-A. If you can tolerate it, it is absolutely the only proven anti-ageing treatment. And be vigilant about your sunscreen.

QuinnFabray · 07/07/2012 23:42

Retin-a cleared up my skin brilliantly, sorted out my clogged blackheady skin and I didn't have a single spot whilst I was using it, where as before I was getting quite bad breakouts every month. Unfortunately the drying peeling effect it had on my skin was intolerable, despite the fact that I was only using it every 2 or 3 nights and mixing it with moisturiser. I used it for a few months, but it never got past that side effect, and I don't think it made any difference to fine lines in that time.

However, once I'd stopped using it, my skin became oily and clogged again, and the breakouts came back. I may try again, even it's only once a week, but I'll be using it for anti-acne rather than anti-aging.

Just be prepared, if you do try it, that your skin may not be able to tolerate it. And start off very slowly at first. A pea size amount every two or three days. If you over do it, the side effect can be like sun burn.

holyfishnets · 08/07/2012 01:11

Retin A is available on prescription (dermatologist or some cosmetic docs) and are medically proven to improve fine lines, rough texture and brown blotches on the skin. It can take up to 6 months before results can be seen

I use protect and perfect and it is really very good. Minimises pores, helps fine lines. I started using it a year or so ago and stopped. My skin looked rubbish. I started using it again and wow!!!! I only use the moisturiser. I think i stopped using it because it was quite costly for both the serum and the moisturiser. I dont use both and still get great results with just the moisturiser. It also lasts a while. I combine it with the glycolic pads and nip and fab night cream which contains retinol every other day.
I think you need to bear in mind and experienced over the years is what works for one person, doesnt for another. Its trial and error. Fortunately I have good genes. People are shocked that I have grown up sons.I dont believe in spending a lot of money on face creams but do like to help keep myself looking good for my age. [ nearly 50] I find that combination is working for me. The only thing that works on my neck is nivea blue pot.
