Hello - I am helping my my mum find a mother of the bride outfit any help would be greatfully recieved

My mum is 47, size 14 - 16 and 5'5''. My mum has quite a nice figure, big bangers and hips, nice waist.

My mum has psoriasis which is making her a bit concious of showing off arms and legs. This is adding en element of complication. :(

For the day this is fine, she's thinking a jacket / dress combo. But what do you do for night do/ (argh)....

Any ladies in simmilar position (p or no p) recently bought a fab wedding outfit please share your style wisdom....

Also when you wear a fascinator, do you take if off afer ceremony (Im clueless)??

For the record I am not trying to hide away her sore skin, she feels to uncomfortable to have a lot on show.

I had a matching jacket dress combo during the day then took off the jacket on the night and had a litttle short sleeved fancy shrug thingy over the original dress! THe fascinator stayed on til we started our meal then I'd had enough and it became a centre piece for the Table!

Depends on her style, I love Ann Balon and it looks comfy too (it wasn't my DM's style).

I would check out ebay searching mother of the bride and her size. They have some lovely bargains.

If she wants the traditional dress/jacket, go for that in the day and then for night time what about an organza wrap? This would cover her arms but would add glamour/a different look.

As for the fascinator you can keep it on during the meal-it's actually down to your Mum as other ladies should follow her lead.

What about long straight silk skirt and fitted hacker with bracelet sleeves ?

I bet this is too old for your young mum

I saw a lovely outfit recently from Gerard Darel, navy lace dress with the same lace in a shrug with elbow length sleeves. It was very elegant, beautiful fabric. It should be in the sale now. Sorry I can't link at the moment, but if you google Ma Boutique Gerard Darel and search for lace you should find themSmile

My mum also has psoriasis and she was very consious when chosing her mother of the bride outfit. She bought a just below knee length dress from monsoon and wore a dressy type cardigan and some heels. I think it was mainly her arms that were effected when I got married rather than her legs. BTW tell your mum to look into wrapping cling film around the affected area (she needs to put her cream on first). My mum has been doing this all day every day and it's improved hugely.

How about something like this or this? Plenty of coverage without being hot, itchcy and horrid. She's so young, lovely as the Camellia-esque long jacket and shift dress look is it could well be aging. This is a nice take on that look though.

this is nice too with a lovely silvery shawl over it for the evening.

love this, again, with a shawl for evening.

I'm sure she knows not so match shoes and bag, but worth a mention on the off chance. Headgear wise a hat or hatish fascinator is much better than a full on fascinator, easier to wear and infinitely more stylish...
