I work outdoors and while i love all the fresh air I am aware that I'm not 25 any more and if I want to avoid ending up looking like an old handbag I really need to look after my skin. So please tell me which moisturiser works best for you.

I use oil of olay classic beauty fluid. The same as my mum!

MidnightKnitter · 29/06/2012 21:32

I don't know if i have seen Neals Yard in shops or have i just not been paying attention. Do you think a uv/ spf is essential? I have fairly dry skin. Weather is so unforgiving, I use Lansinoh on my poor hands.

Agree with the Neals Yard suggestions. The palmarosa day cream is lovely. I haven't been able to find anything else with such a light texture that works so well.

you need stuff high in vitamin c

Gian · 29/06/2012 22:10

high in vitamin c, how high and where can you get vitamin enriched moisturiser

EllenParsons · 30/06/2012 01:25

If you want vitamin c I know Body Shop has a vit c range but not used it myself.

ComradeJing · 30/06/2012 08:31

SPF every day otherwise there isn't much point in doing anything.

MidnightKnitter · 30/06/2012 08:59

That's what i was thinking Comrade. I hadn't thought about vitamin enriched. Unfortunately i don't have John Lewis close so ot'll have to be Boots or Body Shop.

Maybe get the moisturiser you like for your skin and then get clinique city block which I think goes up high spf wise

greenblue · 30/06/2012 09:30

I'm a beauty junky and hands down, the best moisturiser I've come across is as a man's! Boots no7 for men anti ageing balm. Makes my fine lines totally disappear, makes a nice base for make up and actually smells alright too. Love it!

jalopy · 30/06/2012 09:30

You can get Neal's Yard in Waitrose too.

greenblue · 30/06/2012 09:31

*is a man's

NoGoodNamesLeft · 30/06/2012 09:41

I hate the Neal's Yard moisturisers. I don't have particularly sensitive skin, but they sting me and give my skin a weird matt feeling, like I've not moisturised for years.

I recommend waiting until they do a freebie with a magazine again rather than wasting money. They do them quite often.

I really rate the Aldi Lacura range. I've used the anti-ageing serum as a moisturiser and it's brilliant. So is their day cream which is richer, and the night cream which is richer again.

IHaveAFeatureWallAndILikeIt · 30/06/2012 10:28

I'd go against the SPF is vital comment and say the opposite, its bad to have sun protection 24hours a day because it stops you making vitamin D which can lead to osteoporosis.

Its better to wear high factor sun protection when it is sunny and none the rest of the time.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 30/06/2012 10:35

anything by nuxe, imo, particularly their huile prodigeuse, it lasts FOR EVER. www.amazon.co.uk/Nuxe-Huile-Prodigieuse-Multi-Usage-Splash/dp/B001Q1YFV2

but get an spf as well and wear it when needed rather than all the time. a good one, this liz earle one is good cos it's mineral. www.johnlewis.com/231417723/Product.aspx?s_pccid=pc_gs_500_120000

Grin greenblue when i used search on the Boots site it came up with a mans moisturiser. I just searched vitamins and spf. If it doesn't smell too bad i might go with that and just tell DP to keep his hands off Wink. There are so many and some are so expensive i'd rather narrow the field to a few recommendations.

I remember when i just bought stuff and didn't check with MN first.Smile

Simple Regeneration Day Cream:-

www.simple.co.uk/products/Regeneration-Age-Resisting-Day-cream-SPF-15-50ml-73.aspx

SPF 15, non-perfumed, rich but non-greasy and often on offer so cost is normally between £3 and £6.

Mugged up on creams a while back and found some research a dermatologist had done that said that the main thing that ages us is the sun. Most important thing in a moisturiser is the SPF.

ComradeJing · 30/06/2012 12:03

I really think if you work outside every day you need a separate sunblock and moisturiser. An SPF below 30 just won't cut it IMO or you would need to re apply.

What about La Roche Posy as your SPF? Sali Hughes in the guardian did a column last year I think about SPF creams that would be worth looking up (sorry, i can't right now).

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/06/2012 13:06

Clinique city block spf 40, not 25.

It will protect you from the worst of the damage from UV, which ages you in winter as well as summer.

You can get vit D from any other exposed areas.

valiumredhead · 30/06/2012 13:36

I really rate Aveeno - but you need a good sun block as well.

chipstick10 · 30/06/2012 18:10

dermalogica skin smoothing cream, it is fabulosa.
