No personal experience but a friend had hers out due to the recent scare around pip implants. Hers weren't actually leaking but she was still too worried to keep them in so she had them removed, it cost around 3.5K iirc.

She now desperately regrets having it done as her breasts are worse (in her opinion) now than they were before she had the implants put in. The skin and tissue etc has stretched and she hates them. She had the option of having new implants put in at the same time for only a small extra cost but she didn't want them - now she wants them done again and would have to pay full price and she can't afford it.

I know it's not exactly what you asked for in your op but just wanted to warn you that your breasts may not be the same as they were pre-implants.

IslaValargeone · 29/06/2012 18:21

Could you have them out and have a lift?
I have seen some photos recently of that 'celebrity'? Danielle someone who had hers removed, and they looked quite spaniel's ears to be honest.

whereabouts in the country are you MummyMalone? I can recommend a good surgeon who works in several BUPA hospitals in Buckinghamshire. He is excellent and will give you a couple of free consultations without having to commit to anything - he's definitely not interested in "sales", iyswim. I found him very straight talking but very kind and respectful and will give you an honest appraisal of how you can expect them to look post-surgery. I didn't have a boob job with him (he did my tummy tuck) but breast surgery is his specialist area.

Thank you for that, im in cheshire, but i didnt know BUPA doctors carried out breast implant removal. I have BUPA cover, but will have to see if this could possibly be used for them. would be great if it could be

Explant only costs almost the same as a removal and replace because the implants themselves are not that expensive and putting them in is not that much more complicated or time consuming than just removal.

Your best bet is to see a few different BAAPS and/or BAPRAS registered surgeons for a consultation so you can get several opinions and a feel for a few different surgeons.

There are also a few Facebook explant groups you might find helpful, some of them include photographs.

I had my first enlargement in 1998 and although I did have them replaced in 2008 (and went bigger) I was told by several reputable surgeons that I didn't need to have them replaced if there were no problems with them, (and this applies to everyone) so don't think you need to have surgery within any time limit if you don't want to.
