Beauty suggestions for pregnant and after long demoralising illness

I am 17 weeks pregnant with my first child - just beginning to feel a bit self-conscious about my shape (very minor bump only at the moment, but giant breasts (30G)). I have also been in bed for nearly three months with shocking hyperemesis - lost a stone in a fortnight at the beginning, was in hospital loads, couldn't eat for weeks etc etc. Lost all muscle tone and it has taken the last few weeks to be able to walk around again. I'm still lighter than when I got pregnant despite baby. As a result of being so ill/malnourished my skin went awful and peeled off everywhere. That's eased now but I still feel run down and really lacking confidence in how I look. I'm still throwing up every day (how glamorous!) but on good days am now able to go for little walks etc so getting better and want to do something for my physical self-confidence.

Good news in all this is that I've been on full sick-pay all this time without spending anything so can afford to splash out a bit. Any recommendations for products? Usually I just do simple cleanse/tone/moisturise with cheap Boots stuff but I would like to pamper myself a bit.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and poor you at the same time. I too had severe hyperemesis so I understand where you are coming from.

When you are feeling better and able to get out and about would you be able to book yourself a facial?

I had a facial, leg massage and pedicure when I was about 20 weeks and it was lovely. It was a special 'pregnancy package' thing, there's loads of places that do them.

Hopefully the nausea will ease up and you may be able to do something similar? I felt very safe and comfortable, even though I removed my clothes I was covered with towels except for where they were massaging type thing as I'm quite self conscious too I was a bit worried before

Good ideas. There's a salon very close that I use for getting my eyebrows threaded so I could see what sort of packages they do.

lots of salons do packages for pregnant ladies and the oils etc used are suitable.

Also are there any posh hotels near you?

Our local one has just done up its spa and does all day packages with lunch (i know you may not feel up to it) but the pampering in glamorous location would be worth it - would make you feel special.
