I'm 4 weeks away from meeting DS2, DS1 is 15 mo, I feel like I have been pg forever. I'm excitedly planning a style/ body/ image overhaul once I'm out of the can't possibly get out of my PJs before lunchtime newborn stage.

Does anyone have any suggestions for ways to update my style given that nearly all of my clothes are either out of date/ stretched/ stained with baby sick? (DS1 had reflux)

  • what 'key pieces' should I invest in?
  • do I need to update my makeup as well as my clothes?
  • what have I missed (S&B) in the past 2 years that I simply must buy?

Any advice would be much, much appreciated!

For info I am in my late 20's, with dark brown hair & olive skin. I am normally a size 10 but am edging towards a 14 during pg - although much of it is water so I'm hoping to be able to get back to normal eventually.

Cheers m'dears!!

Just for more info, I think I am ready for a slightly more grown up style. I was a big fan of slouchy boyfriend jeans, trainers, and hoodies prior to parenthood but feel that this look is possibly a bit too young/ studentish for me now I'm heading into my 30s and (I can't quite believe this myself) a mother to two children.

Skinny jeans, nice shoes and some good tops with a mac and a blazer seem to have brought me into the current decade after years of being pg and bfeeding. My wardrobe is still a bit sparse but its getting there now.

I've finally got to a point where I'm largely happy with what I wear - roughly same size/age/complexion as you.

Places that I shop in and am very happy with are; Gap, Cos, Zara, Whistles and the occasional bit from H&M/Uniqlo/Topshop/Premium Denim (mostly J Brand).

For staple stuff - a couple of pairs of skinny jeans - indigo and black your best bets, though I have a thing for bright ones. A pair of stylish trainers (Ash good, but quite £££, converse a good alternative) and a pair of low-heeled ankle boots. A blazer in a boyfriend style is a good one to throw over most stuff and feel 'together'. On top, I go for an interesting jumper or a striped top. I have many, many dresses too - the vast majority striped. A biker jacket has been a great buy as had a raincoat that I love - so much time is spent pushing a buggy around in the rain!

Why not have a nose at some of Gok Wan's books on styling yourself, he has some great ideas based on your body shape etc.
