What works? I know miracles don't happen, but what has improved your lines/bags/skin tone etc for more than just a few hours/days?

I have heard that facial acupuncture and dermarolling (if that is the spiky roller thingy) give good results - what do older MNers think?

Also, what works for thin lips (short of fillers and Botox - not going there, too scared).

Currently I am just doing normal skin care - lots of moisturising, careful cleanse and tone, sunblock, regular exfoliation.

Thanks.

OK, so a paper bag with eye holes is always an option I guess; cheap too Grin.

I have started having Clarins Tri-Active facials every 6 weeks. They offer 3 kinds and I am using the hydrating/anti ageing products. They are amazing and my skin glows for a couple of weeks afterwards.

Thanks ujjayi. I used to have Clarins facials in my 30s and I really rated them. Perhaps it's time to revisit them.

I've never bothered with facials before except for the occasional treat. However my peri-menopausal skin is very thankful that I have discovered them! I hadn't realised how dehydrated my skin was - partly because I am prone to hormonal breakouts so I assumed it was greasy if anything. Since having them those breakouts have diminished significantly so definitely worth a shot. I love that you get neck, shoulders and foot massage as part of the deal too!

Don't be scared of Botox. It's the single most revolutionary thing you can do for your skin.

Charliefox, I'm getting crows feet. does botox work on that?

My mum is 53 and gets oxygen facials a few times a year.

Everyone thinks she's in her early forties!

Oxygen facials? Hmmm. I must investigate.

Anyone tried the spiky roller treatment?

I have. But I bought a cheapy one and hurt myself (got it for cellulite.) My beautician told me they can be wonderful.

Personally I'd suggest IPL. My beautician got it and I was shocked she is in her mid sixties. I thought late forties!!
