Tried on more than 40 dresses today...

They were all shite. Well. They may not have been, but they all looked like a sack of crap on me because of my great stinking honking busticles (30HH)...

I may have to face the fact that... (and I can barely bring myself to type this)... I will have to wear the same dress to 2 summer weddings this year - I KNOW! The shame! It is my personal policy never to wear the same dress to more than 1 wedding. Facebook ruins everything.

Where should I look? I did everywhere on Oxford St, so all high street and dept store concessions, couple of vintage shops. Nada that didn't either gape at the armpits cos I have to size up to accommodate the boobage, or not do up because I didn't.

I don't like Pepperberry, and I won't do jersey to a wedding. I like DRESSES - proper, printy, bold, any shape you fancy but robust and non-flimsy dresses. Size 12-14, hooters we know about, hourglass figure.

What shall I dooooOOoooo?

You could buy a made to measure dress from eBay - I've had a suit and am waiting for a pencil skirt and a dress, I'm well impressed by the whole shebang.

LadyofWinterfell · 24/06/2012 18:30

Pepperberry.

LadyofWinterfell · 24/06/2012 18:33

Sorry, need to elaborate! I followed some of the excellent advice on here and visited Pepperberry for the first time this weekend. It was a revelation, No longer do i have to size up for my boobs (38G) and loose my figure as a consequence.

Beautifully cut and gorgeous dresses. Very impressed!

LadyofWinterfell · 24/06/2012 18:35

Sorry, must learn to read the OP properly Blush

Google search threw up a few possibles for me, maybe try that?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 24/06/2012 18:55

TBH I think your best best would be to buy something that you love that fits on your chest and have it adjusted to fit. You might need to go a size bigger than that even so they can lift the are holes, depends on the style.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 24/06/2012 18:57

courtesan boutique do some lovely made to measure dresses - I've not used them myself though.

justtryingtodomybest · 24/06/2012 19:05

Does it have to be a dress? Couldn't you do separates?

Or, is the dress you already have available in another colour? If it fits well and you like it, could be worth investing in another one.

Hetaera · 24/06/2012 23:45

You could try the 'fashion wheel' at Big Beautiful Barbara Brown. You pick the top bit, bottom bit, fabric and send your measurements. It looks quite fun and seems reasonably priced.

belledejour · 26/06/2012 15:06

I have one of these and it is the most flattering dress ever:

www.theladyofthemanor.com/productDetails.php?ProductID=753

Have similar bust issues - am size 8 with 30FFs, very hard to dress. But this dress has stretchy bits at side so can accommodate big boobs yet manages to be slinky & tight elsewhere.

Sonotkylie · 26/06/2012 19:23

Someone on here recommended Vivien of Holloway for similar bust/ dress issues and I thought they were great so I noted the name. I've not tried them so I don't know, but I think they're really fun and look like they could work. May not be your thing, but worth a look!

Iatemyskinnyperson · 26/06/2012 19:41

Have a look on here

Polish site, havn't used, but have read good reviews.

Dollydowser · 26/06/2012 21:06

What is it you don't like about Pepperberry? I have been able to buy dresses for the first time (slightly bigger bust than you). Admittedly they are not all to my taste, but there is plenty to chose from. Their FB page shows photos of their customers in the dresses, a great way to see what they would look like on non models.

I bought a dress today, my first ever from (whisper) Boden. It comes in 4 different fabrics, it was very flattering for my hourglass shape. If you read the reviews they nearly all say there is too much fabric in the bust, just what I need!

Victorygirl123 · 28/06/2013 03:43

I will never buy from Big Beautiful Barbara Brown again. I live in another state and she was weeks late sending my items. When I received them (I ordered three things) one piece was missing and one piece was sewn incorrectly.

When my husband contacted her, she did refund the money for one (but I wanted the piece, not the refund) and she was not at the least apologetic.

soggyryvita · 28/06/2013 10:40

Similar problems here. 32 HH, small waist. Making things harder is being 5' 1" The only dresses I've found that have been flattering were from L K Bennett (and hence cost a flipping fortune and there's no way at that price I could justify wearing it only for 1 do.) Think the one I chose was called 'Davina' or Olivia or something. But it looks gorgeous. There were quite a few I tried in there that were also lovely. Some Phase 8 ones also very nice on.

Try monsoon, I always find something in there. Massive boobs here too.

ellangirl · 28/06/2013 15:09

Dolly which dress was it? Link goes to homepage for me :-)
I just bought a dress which fitted boobs and am getting it altered. Too many pepperberry dresses are too short for me, and/or fitted over hips which does nothing for my saddlebags. Also they tend to accentuate the boobs, which i don't need (30H here).

CarolBornAMan · 28/06/2013 15:13

St Bustier? Never used it but the dresses look nice

CarolBornAMan · 28/06/2013 15:15

St Bustier

JennySense · 28/06/2013 15:31

I find monsoon good and styles such as crossover fronts or wrap dresses.

quoteunquote · 28/06/2013 15:39

I'm sending this thread to a friend who has been franticly trying to find wedding outfits, and has massive breasts.

thanks.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/06/2013 17:57

Vivienne Westwood - you will thank me.

EMUZ · 28/06/2013 18:26

Collectif
Stop staring
Have a look at fuller figure fuller bust and her blog/Facebook as she wears nothing but dresses Grin

il0vepudding · 30/06/2013 22:46

I am a 34H and have the same issue. I tend to stay away from vertical seams in the chest and I only go for jersey dresses. Like this one I won on Ebay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151067400805?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

These types of dresses generally tend to fit me as they have a lot of give in them.

In fact I uploaded a YouTube video featuring some of the items in my wardrobe, it's not the best of quality and you might not like my fashion sense but it might help:
