Wavy hair - can I get away with a fringe?

As the title says I have wavy hair - well it goes in ringlets if I let it dry naturally but generally has a wave to it and a habit of doing the opposite of what I want so I tend to let it do its own thing.

I've been hankering for ages for a fringe like this but with a toddler who needs constant interaction and another baby on the way I don't have time for straightening/washing every day... Can it possibly work??

Hmm I think you would need to blow dry it for it to sit nicely I'm afraid...

BirdyArms · 21/06/2012 18:33

I have wavy hair and a fringe, I do have to blow dry it every day (my fringe rather than all of my hair) but it takes about 10 seconds so not a huge commitment. If I get very wet in the rain it looks awful afterwards but I don;t mind it going a bit wavy on a damp day - impossible to prevent that.

My hair is wavy and I have a bit of a fringe - it is the only part of my hair that needs styling, but it is literally 10 seconds with a barrel brush and dryer, or straighteners if hair is already dry. Only needs doing whenever I wash, which isn't every day. Similar to Birdy have to avoid the rain otherwise it looks rather silly.

Actually have been thinking about getting more of a fringe rather than the half-one I have at the moment. Love the pic OP, am quite tempted myself!

Am the same. V curly hair with a fringe. Fringe is the only bit that I have to do anything with and it's very quick! Otherwise it curls into 3 very unattractive waves. But a quick blow dry and it's good to go!!

UnrequitedSkink · 21/06/2012 19:46

I've been wondering this same thing recently, except mine is more of an unruly wave than full on ringlets. Love Zooey D's hair, that pic is gorgeous. I'm becoming more and more tempted.

My fringe is a lot like your link (when it is behaving)
GHDs after a blow dry to set (also have to do every morning).
Just be prepared to hate going ou in the rain/damp, when it all curls up! Although, bought a rain hat this yr which wear under hood and that has helped.....

daimbardiva · 21/06/2012 23:04

My hair is very similar to yours and I've had a fringe for about 5 years and love it. I do tend to blow dry it and often straighen it, but it is possible to leave it to dry also. My hair is pretty thick which helps as it weighs the fringe down

NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown · 21/06/2012 23:08

Hmm good to hear others have similar hair and can wear a fringe... I think I could cope with blow drying each day or maybe putting it back into a quiff if if short on time.. Would that work?

I've only had a fringe twice in my life; the first time it curled into this shouldn't have googled that, my Declan Donnelly crush is still going strong after 23 years! and the second time I cut it too short and spent an eternity pinning it back and growing it out

keep wondering if I should get a clip in one to try out - my hair is supposed to be this colour though - does anyone know where to find one?

So tempted but such a chicken!

I'm jealous, I have a fringe and spend ages trying to force the rest of my
annoyingly straight hair into a wave.

Hmm, maybe easier to find a clip-in that's your natural colour and dye it next time you dye your hair? (unless your hair is naturally that red, in which case I'm jealous of that too!)

Parasaurolophus · 22/06/2012 10:46

I consider this all the time and always get hung up on the rain. It seems like it rains every single day and even a good hood won't always protect a fringe. I would need a rain hat to protect the fringe.

MrsRogerSterling · 22/06/2012 13:30

I have wavy hair and had a fringe (very much like the link in your op) cut in yesterday. Today is torrential rain and have been out on school run and to meet a friend for coffee with no umbrella, just my hood and still looking good (if I say so myself). Am 36 and never had a fringe before, am thrilled with it!!
