Generally people on here moan about the constant vat of clothes with

silver embroidery

butterflies

flowers

fairies and princesses

hearts

bows

sequins

glitter

Do you agree or disagree?

I love it! Shopping for my little girl is great as there is so much choice. They don't just sell those things and anyway, it's quite a big range you have there anyway

QueenMaeve · 20/06/2012 12:11

I don't understand people who moan about this. If you don't like it don't buy it. My dd has gorgeous stuff with no sign of anything fussy or glittery, there's a huge range of stuff for everybodies taste

dexter73 · 20/06/2012 12:15

I like all those clothes you have linked to. However my dd is now a little bit too old for me to be dressing her!

monkeymoma · 20/06/2012 12:18

I like plainer clothes, but don't understand people who say there's nothing out there, there are lovely plain yellow/red/navy dresses for girls with no tacky embroidery on the high street!

I love shopping for friend's baby girls and I don't buy any of the stuff listed in the OP, there's lots out there

ColumboIsMyHero · 20/06/2012 12:20

I find it all looks the same by the time it's got wheatabix and jam on it.

MrsBovary · 20/06/2012 12:23

I'm not keen on any of those linked.
I like some embellished clothes, if tastefully done, but also love plain clothes from brands like Miller, Bonton etc

TheSpokenNerd · 20/06/2012 12:29

the things you linked to are tasteful and parctical considering they are conforming to "girl norms"

I only dislike clothing that is too short or long to play happily in...or made of silly fabrics like that thin nylon....or netty stuff that rips the moment the child tries to move.

ladymuckbeth · 20/06/2012 12:33

nappyaddict - I'm not sure what the point of your post is - do I agree or disagree with what? Confused

I don't really like those clothes tbh, they're too 'cutesy' for me. But then I've just bought a black lurex jumpsuit for my 2 yr old so I'm probably the wrong person to ask...

AgeingFop · 20/06/2012 12:38

I agree there's a ridiculous ammount of sequinned, embroidered, glittery pink tat for little girls. No wonder so many turn into goths when they hit their teens!

But it's equally as bad for little boys: dull colours, tractors, footballs, dinosaurs.

nickelbarapasaurus · 20/06/2012 12:39

I prefer plain clothes.
no frills, no embellishments.

the pattern of the fabric should be enough. (and a neutral pattern please!!)

also hate most of the clothes you showed there (apart from the blue dress with the butterflies)

I think there's room for it, but a sideline of normal clothes!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/06/2012 12:46

My 10 yo DD is a bit of a pink-a-holic and anything with bling gets her vote Blush providing it's not floral or Hello Kitty (Sainsburys: take note!)

She's tall , and has to wear Girls size 11-13 which are usually too big elsewhere. So she's now moved up to Womens size 6-8.
No girlie girlie glitz but it's without the VAT reduction on childrens clothes.

Boys clothes are a similar nightmare.
DS is 12 yo, skinny and average height. Alot of the older boy ranges are dullsville or too cute. Teen boys are sometimes too big.
Not all teen boys want pirate or stripes.

And to get him jeans Confused. They were either 'twisted leg' (why?) or pockets everywhere. Or colours (mustard, green ,aubergine) that even Howard from Big Bang Theory would shy away from.

chipmunksex · 20/06/2012 19:46

Cor that girl with the butterfly dress looks so much like me at that age, kinda freaked me out Shock

In fact most of the clothes you linked to weren't even that bad IMO.

nappyaddict · 21/06/2012 17:39

Chaos, monkey, MrsB, nickel

When you say you prefer plain clothes do you like clothes with spots/stripes/stars/checks that are the pattern of the material?

When you say you like things to just have a pattern in the material do you mean in this sort of style?

the only thing that I object to is not being able to find any plain coloured tights. They all seem to have pattern or detail on, and when you have a patterned dress, you want plain tights. I do anyway.

nickelbarapasaurus · 22/06/2012 17:19

i like the fabric to have a pattern (but not always )
and yes, your picture would be okay.

it's the puffy sleeves on girls' vests, or the applique stuff, sequins, logos etc.

that's cool
these are also fine
etc.

agree about the tights - all i seem to be able to get in MC are sequined or pink stripes etc

Nevertooearlyforcake · 22/06/2012 21:41

School outfitters have plain tights, was delighted when I noticed this the other day - loads of colours too (exc pink!)
