If you have greasy skin....

What foundation do you use? I have combination skin, dry cheeks and foredhead and greasy covered in blackheads nose and chin. I rarely wear makeup but when I do I always get spots on my nose and chin for about 2 weeks after. I only wear a thin layer of tinted moisturiser or powder and take it off as soon as I get home. The only time I get spots is after wearing makeup, am I doing something wrong?
Can anyone recommend a non greasy foundation that won't leave me covered in spots? Also any tip for getting rid of nose blackheads would be much appreciated.

Which brand do you use? Some brands break me out, and others don't, it's trial and error really. Do you have a cleansing routine? Cleanse, tone and moisturise helps. I like the La Roche Posay effaclar range, you can get it in Boots. The toner especially helps with oil control and blackheads. Cleaning off your make up at the end of the day really well is very important.

My favourite foundation are usually long lasting ones, as because I have oily skin, most just slide off. I like Estee Lauder double wear, and double wear light, L'Oreal Infallible ( although I suspect this one is giving me spots ). Revlon Colourstay. Bourjois Healthy Mix is great.

Aldi with their pressed powder and YSL matte touch primer.

Are they black heads or blocked pores? My nose has blocked pores but if I used Liz Earle deep cleansing mask every night they get a lot better.

I buy it off ebay.

Thanks, I've used boots natural collection, max factor and maybelline. Bare faced beauty powder. All make me spotty, I'd like to wear makeup more but not if it gives me crap skin! It's probably more like blocked pores on my nose, they're only noticable up close, I'll try out some of the stuff mentioned. I just wash my face with simple face wash so will try a toner. Thanks!

It's not cheap but my crap skin is quite happy with Clinique Superbalanced, even if I forget to take it off every now and again.... The Clinique orange ladies are usually really happy to make you up at the counter if you're thinking of buying, could you maybe pop in one morning, get foundation put on and see how the day goes? IME if a foundation is going to upset your skin one day can be long enough!

Mineral make up, with a primer underneath, changed my life.

I wear all sorts of make up, haven't had a breakout since I was a teen despite having combo skin. Can't get rid of blackheads from my crater-like pores for love nor money.

I like MAC Face and Body for a sheer finish, it's water based so shouldn't clog. I find it is the one foundation that doesn't settle into my pores either.

I do use a concealer on my red cheeks though.

never mind the make up, you need to sort out your cleansing regime to clear your skin of all the crap.

Double cleansing has been great for my skin, so I take y make up off with a hot cloth cleanser then use Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing cleanser which contains lactic acid and is gret for skin like yours

ChemicAl peels are great for congested skin, there are threads in Style and Beauty about them, they aren't scar an dean be done at home

cybbo · 19/06/2012 22:08

Aren't scary and can be done at home

Sheesh

I actually have really good, clear skin when I don't wear makeup (apart from the nose which isn't really noticable) It's not full of crap. Its just that makeup seems to clog my pores and I get one or two spots on my chin and nose that last for ages after. Just wondering if its the actual makeup causing it or if its something I'm doing/not doing.

Look for 'non-comedogenic' when you're buying make-up.
I use Estee Lauder Double wear Light, (thanks to mumsnet), I find it great.
