Sodding ingrowing hairs!

What is the deal?! I've gone from shaving to epilating to veet-ing...but still get the nasty things.
What is the magic solution?
This is bikini area btw.

I use an epilator and get them too..even my legs end up with the horrid things. If anyone has a solution, please share!!

Let it grow.

You can buy lotions you apply to stop getting ingrown hairs, the one I use is called Tend Skin and get it from HQHair.com. I think it smells like vinegar and it can be a bit drying so you need to slap on the body lotion. I get really bad ingrown hairs (scars on bikini line and legs from particularly bad ones) and had always been told that I wasn't exfoliating enough. Tend skin is only thing I've found which really works for me.

There's also InGrowGo which I found good. Yes to lots of exfoliating.

FoxPass · 17/06/2012 08:47

In-Grow Go lotion is pretty good. tbh the only thing that stopped them on my bikini line was giving up waxing or epilating and keeping it short with a beard trimmer instead.

I occasionally get them on my legs but they are easy to treat compared to the bikini line! Ouch!

TheProvincialLady · 17/06/2012 12:36

I don't know why FoxPass, but the idea of you using a beard trimmer down there really makes me laugh! It's just so fluffy, glamourous and downright beautiful being a ladydee, isn't it?

FoxPass · 17/06/2012 23:10

:o it's DH's beard trimmer, but hey, a beard's a beard I think I put him off using it though :o

I found that shaving with direction of hair growth rather than against, was the only thing that helped on my bikini line.
Legs - shave, and exfoliate and moisturise like buggery (and I still get them but not as bad)

givememarzipan · 18/06/2012 01:08

Exfoliating is the only thing that helped me, creams do nothing. Rub at it with one of those scratchy gloves.

Add a few drops of tea tree oil to a carrier oil (I use sweet almond) and rub it in after epilation. I wax and used to get awful ingrown hairs before doing this and now don't get any. It moisturises too, is natural and doesn't cost much. You still need to exfoliate too.

BetterOnACamel · 18/06/2012 18:02

I second the suggestion to exfoliate before and apply tea tree in a carrier oil after - really helps.

I found that having a course of IPL did wonders for my ingrowing hairs problem. Didn't do as it was supposed to and actually get rid of the hair mind, but I haven't had an ingrowing hair since. Grin
