Why don't more shops do dungarees for older children?

I can understand when you're first potty training they might be a bit tricky, but I love my DS in dungarees and would love to be able to buy more pairs for him.

More often than not if I do find them in his size they have that frayed, worn denim look which I detest like these girl's ones and these boy's ones.

Grrr why do these clothes designers ruin lovely clothes by including either a faded, worn, distressed look to the item or slapping some writing, a motif or applique on it?

similar to yourself nappyaddict I just prefer the dungarees to be plain with no writing on it, or silly logos etc.

nappyaddict · 27/06/2012 12:44

I would have bought both the H&M ones and the more recent ones linked to had they just been plain.

Shame about the price

Ooh! I like those last pair you linked to! Best pair I've seen so far recently - but can't buy because of the price :(

nappyaddict · 27/06/2012 12:56

They aren't big enough for my DS. What size do you need?

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 27/06/2012 12:58

Look in their sale They go up to 4-5

DS2 is nearly 2yo, so I'm looking for 2-3yrs clothing. going shopping for DCs new clothes on Friday hopefully. Will see what's around. :)

I feel anything over the £20 mark is a bit daft for dungarees when you consider how long they are in them for.

nappyaddict · 28/06/2012 01:26

They are 16 in the sale :)

I never had a problem with the 2-3 size. Try Boots, Next, H&M, Debenhams, John Lewis, GAP, possibly M&S.

Oshkosh does great ones for age/size 5 and under. It's an American site so they're called overalls, not dungarees. :) They ship internationally though and with the currency exchange the prices are low enough to make up for the postage.

girls

nappyaddict · 28/06/2012 08:37

I can only find one pair that don't have branding and only go up to 24M :(

there is a promo code that I have been passed for www.tomdickorharry.com INTRO40 - 40% OFF anything until 31st July. They have nice dungarees for boys as well as loads of other cute things. makes those dungarees £19.20 instead of £32!

Romy1976 · 28/06/2012 10:51

just seen the note at the top about buying or selling - yikes. wasn't trying to sell, just helping. pretend i just passed that promo code as a friend, it is in general circulation at the moment...p.s. the dungarees will be £19.20 with the 40% off

lovechoc · 28/06/2012 15:35

I think going in person is the only way I'm going to know for sure if all those high street shops stock them in ages 2-3. If I see any around 5-6 yr mark will let you know, nappyaddict.

nappyaddict · 29/06/2012 08:22

You could order them online and collect for free in Debenhams, M&S and Next. Not sure about the others.

Boots sell dungarees sometimes - plain blue denim I have them here in a 4/5 and a 5/6 Smile my DS loves dungarees - or ebay lol!

lovechoc · 30/06/2012 15:32

Result! Got two pairs of dungarees yesterday for DS2 in John Lewis. A plain blue denim pair and a navy corduroy pair.

maxybrown · 01/07/2012 10:23

they only go up to 2/3 though don't they lovechoc? Sad

megabored · 01/07/2012 10:25

At 40, I would still wear one.so comfy!!

lovechoc · 01/07/2012 19:29

maxy I noticed that these two pairs of dungarees only went up to 2-3yrs on the rails in John Lewis. I felt quite sad thinking this will be the very last time I ever buy dungarees for my youngest :( It just seems that it's not the 'in-thing' for boys to wear them over the age of three which I find ashame.

maxybrown · 01/07/2012 20:15

Sad DS loves them, he always chooses them over jeans. He is 5 in sept and still fits in 3/4 4/5 dungarees. I have brand new Mini Mode ones kept back in 5/6 Grin

Sometimes I search ebay US as they often have them bigger - gap made some nice ones once, some lovely lined ones for winter!

Though he had shortie ones on the other day from H&M, they look quite cool I have to say. But stood at the bus stop some girl wame was t a similar age to him asked me what his name was then proceeded to ask why he was wearing "those" as she pointed to his dungarees. She said he's not a baby, they're for babies - made me laugh and think of this thread, especially seeing as he had "trendy" ones on lol

maxybrown · 01/07/2012 20:16

sorry weird typing, stupid laptop Blush

maxybrown · 01/07/2012 20:16
