Inika mineral foundation range?

UML · 14/06/2012 11:32

I bought a Bare minerals foundation set/starter kit ages ago (mineral foundation, powder) - it has been such a waste of money, as I had 3 different shades which I never knew how to use properly, and I didn't think they were a good match for my skin.

Unfortunately, mineral foundation (powder) may make me look dry, but tinted/liquid foundations make me feel sticky! Although I think that I prefer powder, because if I prepare my skin properly, it looks okay.

I still have the foundations in their barely used pots, but I am looking to replace them (had them for 4/5 years!!!)

I wanted to ask whether anyone has any experience with the Inika range?

I really like the sound of it, and I have read reviews on John lewis and elsewhere which sound good, as my skin does get sensitive sometimes, and apparently it is better than Bare Minerals in this regard (and other respects)

I am just concerned I will order some more, and it wont suit my skin and it will be such a waste of money!

I don't really want to consider the liquid foundation version, as I saw a video of a before and after on QVC, and she looked weird after!

Any thoughts appreciated :)
Thanks

it's very good - I have been trying various brands and the key thing? don't buff!
I find it looks much better and natural when applied like a normal powder, with a large powder brush, instead of a flat topped brush and buffing action.
BM normal may give reactions as it contains bysmuth oxychloride (which makes it slightly shiny), HOWEVER, BM Matt does not contain this, and looks much nicer, I'm using it without any problems, plus, I find BM have a better range of colours

alternatively, Jane Iredale is v nice as is Youngblood

Thanks! I may end up exploring both bm and inika.

So hard!

Inika is great. One of the few mineral makeup brands I can wear even when my face is very inflamed by rosacea.

Coverage is excellent. You don't need a seperate concealer of any kind. It contains a fair bit of mica so no need for any light reflecting setting powder.

I really rate it. But buy in store if you can to get the colour right. And I wouldn't use their liquid foundation again. It looked good but not good for sensitive skin-too many ingredients.

Skandi1, I ordered it yesterday using the guidelines inikacosmetics.co.uk/natural-mineral-foundation-all-shades - do you think it is accurate?

Would have tried to visit an online stockist, but bit busy with kids etc. I thought it may be ok...

Thank you for all your help MissFoodie and skadi1!

Received it this morning, and thank god, it is a perfect match :)

Actually very pleased with it, will need to try it on a few more times to be fully sure, but I applied it on with a normal foundation brush (from my BM set) and it went on great - I found it (personally) to be quite light in coverage (perhaps due to the brush) but that is something that I am really happy with, and it didn't look powdery on my face...

I even went overboard a bit, to see how much I could apply before it looked weird, and it went well lol, the colour went slightly darker, but didn't get the caked look...

I know different brands work better for different people, but it worked great for me.

The only weird thing I found is that it seemed to have a bit of sparkle in there, very slight, but most of it came off after application - weird!

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

give it a go tomorrow with a normal large powder brush, and dont buff, you should see a difference, I find it looks more natural

UML · 15/06/2012 10:06

I didn't actually order it from the inika site, but from another site that did next day delivery...

I may have to venture into trying their blushers too...!

Didnt manage to make it to boots yet to try the natural collection blush range as you suggested on another thread, but if this company is good, will try theirs...

their blusher with a puff sponge is nice, but much more pricey than boots!
also, is not matte
