Beegey · 13/06/2012 21:25

Off to Selfridges tomorrow for the first day of the sale. Childcare in place and urgently need decent new kit, particularly jeans.

Can anyone suggest what I should be looking out for, brands or style wise? 5"7 12/14 nearly 30 (gulp) and Sahm.

Have just discovered Whistles too, which I love, love, love. Anyone know when their sale begins?

Thank you. I know zilch and need assistance (waaaa)

Good work Beegey.

I intend to do the same. All the sahms I know have great style and lots of good stuff.

Much better than when I was at work. There's only so much Reiss and Zara one can take.

MarshaBrady · 14/06/2012 19:12

Actually loads of them work anyway I just never see them there.

AmberNectarine · 14/06/2012 19:31

Oh god yeah, marsha identikit work uniforms. I look like a tool in tailoring, will be sad when I can no longer swan around in my extensive denim collection.

MarshaBrady · 14/06/2012 19:48

And all that strip flouro lighting so bad for the complexion Wink

Actually it was crap for mine, that and the air con or too much heating.

Maybe offices suit dark hair / olivey tones more than blonde.

AmberNectarine · 14/06/2012 20:04

Nope, I always looked liked death warmed up too...

alwaysrunninginheels · 14/06/2012 20:45

beegey hope you really enjoyed it! And that the clothes look fab!
amber you wasted precious pennies on a primark nightie......did you not fancy one of those lovely tie up the back NHS jobs??? True style!!!!

I've stayed at home / worked from home for the past 5 years and I can really recommend dressing up at home. I wore Red Valentino today all day long. And my school run bag is a python Dior.

My body, still recovering from childbirth, basically requires premium denim ;)

Oh, and red lipstick and perfume are absolutely mandatory.

KateSpade · 14/06/2012 21:58

No, i didn't mean it to sound as horrible as it did, I'm really good at doing that, but i'm honestly not a snob or a horrible person.

Anyway, I'm a Fashion Designer of sorts and i just think when your spending that amount of money on an item, you should get butterflies in your stomach, it should make you feel like no-one could ever do, you should want to run out into the street shouting 'Look at my new dress'. It sounds eccentric, but this is my life.

Granted, i personally only own about 20 or so Items like that with a variety of different price points, each one makes me feel amazing. Thats what fashion should do. No matter if its Primark or MBMJ.

One of the things on my 'Bucket list' Is to visit the Chanel shop in Paris and buy a 2.55.

Beegey · 14/06/2012 22:16

Don't worry Kate, I didn't take it personally, I agree with you to an extent - my clothes do get trashed. I have a one year old and a two year old, I rarely sit on a chair or sofa, often am playing 'doggies' on the floor and get covered in paints, felt tip baked beans. This lifestyle is not compatible with a high fashion, couture wardrobe.

However, sometimes I like to look a bit more glam and feel good about myself and my new jeans make me feel fabulous, like a real hotty Wink.

I appreciate all of the helpful comments and suggestions. My dh asked me tonight who Donna Ida was, he thought maybe an old school friend found on fb...

alwaysrunninginheels · 14/06/2012 22:22

Grin I would just agree and tell DH dona Ida is a friend needing visited often....l

alwaysrunninginheels · 14/06/2012 22:23

Donna

Beegey · 14/06/2012 22:23

Blah, poor grammar, confusing prose. Felt tips COMMA, baked beans. Each messy enough on own.

Btw, I adore the idea of red Valentino all day indoors.

I love dressing up and would happily take my toddler to pre school in my wedding dress tomorrow but alas, wellies and new jeans may have to suffice Wink

I digress...

Yes, i am thee Katespade.

ishopthereforeiam · 14/06/2012 23:11

Kate I'd love that shopping experience too but works out much more cost effective to buy it tax free at the airport Wink

faustina · 15/06/2012 08:28

Katespade (love your handbags btw!) - it's a different kind of spend isn't it: the amazing dress that everyone looks at when you walk in the room - and the equally amazing jeans that you never want to take off. But they're both worth it, whatever they cost, and whoever designs them.

MarshaBrady · 15/06/2012 09:10

I do feel like that, the adrenalin kick when I buy something really nice. But the fact that I am a sahm makes it feel better.

I always felt a little rebellious at having to dress for others; clients, employment. But now it is for me.
