Ha! I just googled to try and find a Boden sale (one of those town hall ones) and it came up with my name on MN thread.

How sad am I?
And how do I find out if Boden are having any Town Hall sales in Norfolk or Suffolk this year? (I'm not phoning them!)

hang out in the changing rooms

its where everyone dumps their unwanted stuff

dont look at sizes, just grab and look later

Piffle · 25/02/2006 13:59

I've been
All the under 4 yrs girls stuff was gone and I was there 10 mins after it opened!
Got some decent trousers for me though and a few other older girls bits for friends and rellies.
Will deffo get there early next time
It is on again tomorrow, will they bring in more stuff - am really cheesed nothing for dd!
I did find one 18-24 mth cute skirt in menswear but its too small for her!
It was pretty mad though.

Enid · 25/02/2006 14:27

yes they bring in more stuff

honestly check the changing rooms late in the afternoon

but I think with ebay and the resale value it is impossible

I went about 3 years ago and it was hell then, god knows what it is like now.

cupcakes · 25/02/2006 15:00

When we went last dh saw a man and woman pick up a box full of bedlinen and curtains off the table and take it into a corner where they started sorting through it by themselves. When anyone approached they said 'this is ours' as if they had selected it all themselves when really they had just removed it from where anyone else could stand a chance.
Bad play.

how much cheaper are the prices?

cupcakes · 25/02/2006 16:49

There tend to be set prices to make it easier for the cashiers. For example all children's bottoms are £5, all knitwear £10. (or thereabouts) Most shoes are £5. I think baby clothes (up to 18-24m) tend to be cheaper.
Adult clothes are the same: £20 for a jumper or skirt.
So not totally giving it away. Although you can get bargains like coats for £20.

I went to an Edinburgh one a few years ago and I would rather poke out my eyes with a sharp stick than go to another. The prices were cheaper but not all that much cheaper than sale time for most things. There was a range of complete undesirables that was very cheap, 'tis true. The other customers are just horrendous, there were babies in pushchairs just abandoned, crying, with the staff trying to find their mothers. Grim. Mind you, it's not going to stop me trying the Duo one....

cupcakes · 25/02/2006 16:57

I've only ever had any success when arriving very early and queuing. And I've rushed to the right age and just stuffed anything vaguely appealing into bag and sorted out later.
I've very rarely found anything in womenswear as I always prioritise the children's clothes. I make dh look after the children in a corner.
I am one of those scary possessed women. And I'm as bad when the internet sale starts. I make a list of everything I want weeks in advance to save time.

I spose if I did go to one I would take the day off work, sans enfants natch, and work out a Military Attack. Then I'd go to lunch with the spoils and get a bit sozzled. and watch a movie later on....

cupcakes · 25/02/2006 17:02

I went with a friend once and it was great. We came out slightly dizzy and went for lunch to compare spoils.

today adult coats were £40
knitwear £20
trousers £10 but mens were £20.
Kids trousers £8 as with skirts
dresses were £20

I got some indoor fleecy flannel pull ons which I had wanted to get in the sale but they all sold out
I am in them now and love them!
I'm in two minds about going again tomorrow and getting there super early in case there is more kids stuff?
What do you experts at this think?

I went and had another plunder today
It was empty of people and grabbed quite a few things,
Esp good takings in the faults bin - coats were £3 and very little wrong with them.
Honestly people wash a woollen top on hot, shrink it to buggery and then send it back

lucykate · 26/02/2006 18:01

i wonder if these ended up in a bargin bin somewhere then?
