Kids hair

My dd is 4. She has shoulder length hair and a fringe she doesn't want anymore so we are growing out.

The problem is that her nursery have banned hairclips etc. The fringe doesn't go back properly so I can't put her in a headband. Her hair is thick but very fine.

Any suggestions? Hair bobbles are ok.

TIA

Maybe a french plait / braid which goes across the front of the head.....link this

A sprout with one of those teeny-tiny spongy elastic bands that you can buy for babies? DD used to wear one when she was about 1.

I wouldn't relish the idea of doing a French plait on a school morning!

OP - why have the nursery banned hair clips? Seems a very silly rule to me. I would clip the fringe back and explain to the nursery that it's growing out, what are they going to say??

We had to tie DDs fringe into a bobble at the side until it grew out as her nursery banned clips too. Choking hazard I presume.

Dancergirl - I tried just sending her in with Kirby grips in but they remove them so an unstylish bobble at the side was the only solution for us.

A kid tried to eat one apparently. Dd had one in last week and they took it out.

I have done a sprout today but it's not a look I'm fond of. She is 4 so a bit big for it I think. Will have to do for now though as I'm loathe to put products in her hair and it's so fine there's no chance of a French plait staying in.

How long is the fringe at the moment. Luckily dd's nursery has no banned clips, but her fringe is now the to her nose and we can fit it in high bunchies. What about using a headband??? With the grip bit to scrape it back:

Like these:

See the silver one has little grooves which keep the hair back.

Or an elastic type one:

Or will they not let you have a bow or something with a slide in - that way it would be to big to choke on.

Sorry didn't read properly, so ignore the hairband suggestions. I would also say make sure her hair is parted on the side - triggers the fringe hair to grow differently (less likely to hang in her eyes). With my daughter who seems to be in a similar situation to yours - at bedtime we part her hair to the side and wet it a little bit and she slips with a click clack clip in - and in the morning it stays put.
