Hi there. I'm a sometimes regular on the food forum and just recently started reading this style and beauty forum. Excellent advice here too I see.

Apologies if covered before but looking some quick opinions as going shopping this morning.

I recently got paid for some part time work and want to treat myself. I've been looking at fitflops for the past 3 summers but could never justify the cost (?90 in Ireland). So thought this is the chance.

Still not convinced, I got Clarks version last week but had to take them back yesterday as the toe post was sooo painful. My hubby reckoned I just needed to 'break them in' but I couldn't face the pain as I don't normally suffer pain with toe posts

So I'm thinking I should just bite the bullet and get the fitflops.

Any opinions on here? Worth the cost? Are they as comfortable as they look? I know summer weather crap but imagine if they are comfortable I will get several summers wear.

Thanks RCOR

They are very comfortable and I've never had an issue with the toe post rubbing.

BUT ... I don't believe they do a single thing to tone up legs and they are a bit ubiquitous these days. So if you're buying for the supposed toning effect then save your money. But if you just like them then go for it!

Ditto Hearts - v comfy but no toning benefit that I can see! I suffer with plantar fasciitis and the fit flops give my feet the support and cushioning they need. I even wear the boots in the winter!

I am a week in with my Clarks version - half an hour a day to start with then longer each day - they are FAB now and like walking on air and I don't feel the toes post at all. I think your dh was right Wink

I prefer my Clarks ones to my Fitflops.

How about trying to find a pair of these FitFlops without a toepost;

I, too, delayed buying them because of the cost. Finally bought them last summer and have worn for some part of the day every day since. I wore them all summer sightseeing around Europe. I put them on first thing in the morning and wear them all day unless I have to change into other shoes for work or it's raining. I spy a slight beginning of a tear on one of them where the top meets the sole and feel a bit annoyed about that. I had hoped to get several summers out of them too.

I dont cope with toeposts but fitflops have been fine, no soreness at all.
try www.mandmdirect.com/ProductList.aspx as there are still some ladies ones at reduced prices, I received the Red walkstars last week.

The thought of toeposts makes me shudder. I did however get some black leather fitflop trainers at TK Maxx for £25 last week and they are super comfortable, if fairly ugly.

I am pretending not to have heard that they don't really have any toning effect - mine will, because I believe in them (and because I have been out for a 30 minute stride every morning that I wouldn't have otherwise done because I now have magical trainers).

I have the Lolla ones-no toe post. Lovely!! I have 2 pairs of the boots- fur lined and long suede ones-love love love them- so comfy. Don't know about toning. Don't care Grin

thecinnamongiraffe · 11/06/2012 20:11

I tried some on that were in the sale and was still not convinced myself. I bough reefs instead (just putting them on made me relax), I reckon that by comparison they are just as comfortable.

I think the fit flop trainers are super comfy though...

doglover · 11/06/2012 20:24

I've just about every Fitflop style going! I prefer the non-toepost designs - soooooooooooo comfy!!

ToryLovell · 11/06/2012 21:40

I bought some cheap copy ones from Avon as a friend was starting up as a Rep and I felt obliged to order something.

The toe posts did rub to start - although I have that with all new flipflops.

However, every time I have worn them, my bum and thighs have been a bit achey afterwards - like a post workout achey, which makes me think that they must be doing something.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. Well, I bought them yesterday and was able to wear them all day. I'm not really bothered about toning effects, just liked the look of them. Got the white ones with big shiny 'diamonds' as per my 4 yr old:-)
