Urgent help needed with Foundation!

I need to find a foundation and I've made a few expensive mistakes so thought before I try any more I'd call on your experiences instead!

I suffer from severe eczema and need a foundation with a very thick coverage to hide my scars, uneven skin tone and uneven skin surface yet needs to be moisturising enough not to dry my skin out any more and hopefully hide the fact that my skin extremely flaky and dry.

It also needs to be as long lasting as possible as I do not have the opportunity to touch it up during work hours.

The foundations I have tried so far are -

Clinique dewy Smooth - Lovely and moisturising, fair coverage but have to reapply before I've even left the house!

MAC Studio Sculpt- Fair coverage but sunk into every mark on my face and really irritated my eyes.

DiorSkin Sculpt - Moisturising but again didn't cover the marks on my face and needed frequent reapplying

An elizabeth Arden Foundation that I can't remeber the name of and cannot find online! - Nowhere near enough coverage

Plenty of high street brands and all have been useless.

Currently using Estee Lauder Double Wear which lasts forever but is too drying and again sinks into all the scars on my face

Any ideas on what I could try next?

What about Vichy Dermablend?

QuinnFabray · 10/06/2012 14:04

Have you tried the Double Wear Light? It's still good coverage, but not so heavy and drying. Estee Lauder Futurist might suit also. See if you can get a sample perhaps? Do you use a primer? That can really help a foundation to sit well on the skin, and last longer. I love MAC prep and prime spf50. It makes a huge difference to my foundation.

Actually, I think your best bet is trying some Korean BB Creams ( not the Western versions, which are inferior ). These were specifically designed for sensitive scarred skin.

My suggestion would be Missha Perfect Cover BB cream, which I buy from eBay from the sellers bello-girl or cosmetic.love. It's only about £10 including shipping, and it's better than any High End foundation I've tried. Lioele bb creams are excellent too, I just found the Missha one better suited to my oily skin.

here

and

here

I've ordered from here a few times, and it takes a couple of weeks to arrive from Korea usually, but absolutely no problems. There's lots of great reviews of these products online if you google.

I would suggest Bare Minerals and also the Bisque concelaor - magic stuff!

I sympathise. Used to have bad eczema. If you are a Clinique fan, have you looked at the Repair Wear foundation- very high coverage but has to be applied thinly- you can build up- or it will settle into creases, but over a good amount of moisturiser it gives very good coverage. BTW it' s the old formula- not the new one with serum.

Marking place to steal tips Smile

Do try a primer (perhaps one for dry or red skin?). They can make all the difference. A primer might help you use up the rest of your Double Wear too, so it might save you money Grin!
Mac prep&prime works well and Laura Mercier's primer is good. I hear good things about Smashbox but I've never tried them. Bare Minerals have one too.
I recently watched this video about concealing blemishes which focuses on making the most of your 'good' skin which is a great way to think about makeup.

VashtiBunyan · 11/06/2012 12:57

I'm trying to get samples of as many different foundations as possible before I buy another one. The best sample I've had so far is Clinique's repairware. I'm going to try the chanel ones next.

I agree about the primer as well. YSL's matte touch covers everything and gives you a smooth surface to put the foundation on (but their perfect touch primer is useless, IMO).
