Facials, are they any good?

I have never had a facial, but am considering trying to overcome my touching issues by having one.
Perhaps some kind of deep cleaning affair? what would you suggest? or are they just not worth it.

I don't like being touched (I make exceptions obv) and have a major issue with having my eyelashes touched. But I do like a facial and just explain when I meet the therapist. I had a deep cleansing one two months ago and it made my pores look better for 6 weeks and me feel glowing for a good week or two after. It depends where you go so I'd ask friends for recommendations.

I have no friends monkeysmama, that's why I asked here Wink

I've had loads over the years and my favourite is a hydradermie - that gives a really deep clean.

Charliefox · 10/06/2012 17:13

I too have had lots over the years and I can honestly say I've never been amazed by the results. If you can find that rare gem of a brilliant beautician, then the experience itself can be wonderful. Hydradermie is a good one or CACI but it depends what you want to achieve.

I thought initially a deep cleansing one might be a good place to start? to get my pores clean and then maybe anti ageing/lifting type thing?

Elemis, Clarins and Decleor for relaxation and Dermalogica, Crystal Clear, Guinot for results. Personally, I prefer a really good massage which really perks up your complexion. Elemis is my fave.

I don't have bad skin I don't think, but on closer inspection via a magnifying mirror it looked as if it could do with a bit of a sort out.

I go to a complementary therapist and she does an amazing aromatherapy facial with pressure points. All natural products and you leave glowing.

Splishysploshy · 10/06/2012 17:47

I just enjoy the relaxation of it, any benefits to my skin are a bonus.

ArcticRoll · 10/06/2012 17:49

I had a very £££ Eve Lom facial last year and it was quite relaxing but don't think it was worth the money.

IslaValargeone · 10/06/2012 20:13

I might give the Dermalogica one a whirl.
I wouldn't have one for the sake of relaxation, as I wouldn't relax, as I am a bit squirmy about being faffed with.
I want a facial spring cleaning. dyno-rod for the pores.
Thanks for your advice all.

I've had the Dermalogica one that lasts about 1hour 15 mins - had about 3 or 4 last year. Loved them and use the Microfoliant pretty much every day.

I have been told great things about the Guinot Hydradermie Facial - might be worth looking into that too. Bit more expensive i think though

I've just started having regular facials using the Clarins Tri Active range. Had 2 so far, six weeks apart. My skin is still glowing a week later and definitely didn't have my usual hormonal skin break out for the last 2 months either :). It is my new treat to myself. The salon I go to has no hard-sell on the products either which makes a lovely change but are very generous with the free samples so that I have been given enough to use between treatments. Really rate it.
