Big Hair

Susieloo · 09/06/2012 19:35

I saw a thread on here earlier about Babyliss Big Hair, can't find it now, anyway I've been looking for something to add volume to my hair for ages and have been trying different products i.e. mousse etc and drying hair upside down. Got really excited by the Big Hair and accidentally one clicked on amazon and I have one coming! Need to know if you dry hair first or towel dry before using it and what products you recommend to use with it, is it like using a hairdryer and brush together? Any info gratefully received!!

I love love love my Babyliss Big Hair! I tend to leave my hair to dry for a good half an hour before I use it as it would take a while to dry from wet. I don't use any products with it at all. I find it much easier to use than using a brush and a hairdryer together, I'm rubbish at that!
I tend to section my hair and dry a bit at a time, it doesn't take very long.

I have slightly kinky very thick hair which is in a bob. The BigHair has made doing my hair so much easier. If mine broke tomorrow I would be straight out to replace it.

I do mine from almost dry, and then touch up the following day from dry. You can do it from wet but it would take you ages unless you have very thin hair as the actual hairdryer part is not very hot or blowy.

I hate my bbh, i am selling it, so if anyone is interested in buying it pm me. It is still brand new, only used it once, i'ts still in its original packaging, bought it for £35, but selling it for £25, its practically brand new.

Krumbum · 10/06/2012 16:31

I have long, very thick hair, will it work for me? Or just take hours to dry it.

i used mine on and off though my hair is fine and layered, with one length think hair not really sure it would do much

Spookey80 · 10/06/2012 17:32

I don't understand?? What does it actually do? Does it make waves? I'm thinking about getting one, but is it worth the money?

Splishysploshy · 10/06/2012 17:41

I love mine. I rarely use my straighteners now as I find they can make my hair too straight. My bbh straightens my hair and gives it just enough body. I really do feel like I have just come out of the salon, bouncy and it is amazing on my fringe. Really cannot recommend it highly enough.

Susieloo · 10/06/2012 21:40

It's arriving tomorrow and I'm v excited about trying it! Thanks everyone-spooky it's designed to give you increased volume and body in your hair andalusia it shinier too, I looked up some demo videos on you tube.

Have you got it? Is it good?

jellybeans · 12/06/2012 21:03

I love mine it is so much easier than blow drying with brush and dryer. Can even do the back. It basically just curls it under and round like blow drying does but makes it easier. I usually dry roots first with normal hairdryer then at 80 percent dry I use BH. It makes hair great all day although it can snag sometimes it is fab overall. Better than straighteners.

Susieloo · 13/06/2012 08:20

First try yesterday on clean and blow dried hair with a bit of dampness left in, didn't section hair like you are meant to because I didn't have the patience but I will next time, my hair definitely had more body and was more swingy, not something I get with straighteners, I found it quite easy to use, going to use it today on dry hair with some blow dry spray, will let you know how I get on, think it will take a couple of goes to get the technique right but so far I like the fact it's given me a blow dry finish-albeit a slightly scruffy one-without having to do the proper blow dry with brush palava.

I think if your hair responds well to drying with a round brush and hairdryer then this will be great.

I have fine hair but loads of it, it tends to be a bit wavy/frizzy and this is a godsend for me.

You need nearly dry roots and the rest damp otherwise it would take forever - but to me thats no difference to having to dry my hair and then straighten it.

I use a little leave in oil on the ends & on the 2nd day I just brush some water through the top of my hair to make it damp and restyle it with the BBH - seems to work for me.

I love it!!

Charliefox · 13/06/2012 23:50

Got mine today and it's amazing. Am in love with it already. I'm a blast-it-upside-down kind of a girl but this is soooo much better. I have fine, lank, thinning, pathetic hair too.

HazleNutt · 14/06/2012 09:20

Mine died so I got a similar one from Rowenta, here: www.amazon.de/Rowenta-CF-9220-Rotierende-Warmluftb%C3%BCrste/dp/B001FA07ZC/ref=pd_sim_dr_2 and I think it's much better. 1000W instead of 700, so you don't even need a separate hairdryer, and comes with 2 different sized brushes. The bristles are a lot softer, so perfect for my fine hair, leaves hair smoother and softer than Big Hair (might not be so great for thick hair though). And the smaller brush is excellent for curls and waves.

lizardqueenie · 14/06/2012 17:21

I'm wondering about getting one, have long, curly hair which does frizz but isn't too thick, it's just there is a lot of hair but I would really like to blow dry smooth more like the hairdresser does it- would this work on my hair or end up in a big tangle? Confused

valiumredhead · 14/06/2012 17:56

That looks good hazle

Susieloo · 14/06/2012 22:03

I think it avoids tangling your hair because the bristles rotate one way all the way up to the root and then you press another button and it reverses the bristles the other way so you don't get stuck, my hair is very prone to getting knotty and it has been okay so far.
