Why are dresses so short? Link to any nice ones you have bought recently please?

Every nice day time, smart/casual/wear it anywhere dress I see is so short. Does anyone else find this frustrating?

I got this last week and it looks lovely, and long enough that I can chase toddler DS without any fears of flashing more than I mean to (I'm 5'6" and it's slightly longer on me than on the model)

This is lovely on, knee length on me 5'6' with long legs. Denim jacket, wedges big sunnies and a great price.

What are we classifying as "short"? I have knobbly knees which I don't like to show off too much, plus do a lot of work sat down opposite people, so I like my dresses to be knee length. It is a struggle to find something decent in knee length. Every dress linked to here is well above the knee.

I bought two black dresses in M&S today. Perfect length and design for me. I'll see if I can link.

i got this from DP, which comes in about 6 colours, is very flattering and comes to the knee on me (5'9"). no sleeves, but £16.

AuntLucy - in Spain they must be creeping towards the neck.

Flora - looks nice. Is the fabric thick enough not to cling too much to the body shape?

Totally agree with you OP.

I am 5'10 mid forties and really don't want to do a Sharon Stone when sitting!
I also think that a knee length skirt looks far more elegant and makes your legs look better and longer I give you Kate in that red dress, Kim and Tulisa skirt just too short
The shorter skirt can make a dress look a lot cheaper not just cheap.
Phase eight have good length skirts on there dresses and peacocks of all places have had a few gems with a good knee length skirt.
