Permanent hair straightening nigtmare, can I get a full refund from the hair salon?

Hello,

I went to do a permanent hair straightening (using chemical) at the hair dresser near my home. At first the boss of that hair dresser said it would cost £60 because I have a long hair. I agreed to pay that price even it costs me more than I used to pay (I've had my hair done last year for £35 and my hair was longer then).
Anyway, I agreed to pay more because she said that Wella has just released a new range of hair straightening cream, it is very good. So we then agreed on date and time to do it. Then when I went to the salon she said she has sent me a text that it would cost £75 not £60 because she phoned people around and nobody would do it for £60 so she decided to charge me £15 more even we've agreed at £60. I didn't get her text because she sent it to the wrong number.

I went with £75 because I thought I was there already anyway and I needed to get it done. She got the trainee to do to it and did only the regrowth not the whole length of my hair that she mentioned why she had to charge me more. I wasn't happy and let her know and she refused to do the rest of my head!.
So I ended up with just the top of the head done. Still, I can't let my hair down because it looked silly with a top half of my hair straight and bottom half still curly. This is not the reason I came to the hair salon. :(

Anyway, after 2 weeks I noticed that my hair was broken from the very top. If I just give it a little pull it will break off and soon will stick out. So I went to the salon and asked for a full refund but the boss refused to give me anything back, and said that's why I didn't want to do the whole of your hair! That's not the point because it broke off from the top not the end of my hair.

Anybody has experience about this please help me. I feel really down and upset at the moment. Thank you. x

PS. Apologize for my English, it is not my first language.

Oh dear - she sounds terrible. Go in there on a Saturday morning ( the salon will be at its busiest) and make a massive massive fuss ( in front of everyone) that you want a refund as you're hair is falling out. Demonstrate for her ( in front of everyone).

Refuse to leave till you get your money back.
Also maybe email Wella and ask them what she has done.
Good luck.

Thank you so much, fluffylegs. xxx She has been so unfair to me. She blamed my hair for being weak when I showed her that it's falling out with just a little pull. When I first saw her, she and her trainee said that I've got a nice and healthy hair...
She also said in front of me that she knew I was got be problem.

You can complain to Trading Standards

KateSpade · 07/06/2012 20:19

I was also going to say Trading Standards.

Im sorry thats happened, if it makes you feel any better i have had a few hair disasters at Hairdressers.

I was going through a blonde phase, after getting my very dark brown hair done blonde, i went back to get my roots done, and was left with bright orange hair, and blisters all over my head. Was terrible.

She just shouldn't be that rude to you. Something went wrong she needs to take responsibility and give you a refund. Hope you get your money back.

BabyDoll2710 · 08/06/2012 11:45

Thank you everyone.

I'm going to complain to Trading Standards for sure and write a letter to Wellas as well because she has just treated me badly.
When I asked if she has a name card she said NO, so I said can I have your address because I'm going to send a letter to Trading Standards, she pointed out and said "outside at front door" with a very sharp tone. :( I was like argggggggg.

She can point at the door all she likes and tell you to get out but she won't be able to do the same with Trading Standards. Terrible treatment from her, silly bint.

BabyDoll2710 · 08/06/2012 12:38

I know, Charliefox, this is a very terrible experience for me. She didn't tell me to get out but she's just refused to corporate and pointed out like "look at the door yourself if you want the address". I was boiling and nearly cry then but had to keep it in. When I said I'm going to take this case further and report to Trading Standards she said "FINE" and pulled the "I don't give a s..." face.

Do take some photos so you have evidence.

BabyDoll2710 · 13/06/2012 14:00

Thank you everyone. I've sent a Consumer complaint letter to Citizens Advice Bureau. We'll see how it goes.

PS. Just found out that we can not send letter to Trading Standards directly anymore. :(
