Is there such a thing as a sensible, fashionable shoe?

I feel like this doesn't exist and after a shopping trip today and 2 hours online I'm pretty certain it doesn't!

I'm going to a wedding at the end of the month, I'll be just over 7 months pregnant & I have bought a gorgeous dress. I'm normally a heels type of person as I'm only 5ft2" & I don't feel dressed up unless I'm in heels.

But should I really be in heels at 7 months gone? Is there a better type of heel, like a wedge or are they all bad?

Please tell me there is a solution I really don't want to wear flats or shop in Clarks!!

I am the same height as you and also went to a wedding at 7 months. I agree heels are must so I bought some wedges which I do think are slightly more supportive than your average heel. I think if you aren't long to be in them for long and can walk safely then it should be fine. I actually decided to splash out a bit and got a gorgeously comfortable sparkly pair from Hobbs. Am still wearing them and DS is now 4!

Thanks RayofSun, I'm hoping it will be fine, I could also throw some flats into the car to take incase my back hurts I guess? I think that is the main danger and falling?

Love the idea of buying an amazing pair, but for some reason I'm having trouble finding nice wedges!! Sad I think it's because I wouldn't normally wear them as prefer a stiletto heel.

Think I will keep looking at wedges though, so glad you think it's ok.

The M&S Autograph range have some lovely mid heels with "insolia" I bought a strappy black pair for a night out at 7mo pg & they were pretty comfy. I felt a bit off balance but think that was psychological.

Thanks monkeysmama, I just had a look and there is nothing in quite the right colour, but some of them are lovely.

If you have a good budget, the world's your lobster! What ballpark are we talking about?

mirpuppet · 06/06/2012 19:32

It is a maxi dress; you are 7 months pregnant-- wear some sparkly flats it will be fine.

waitingforgodot · 06/06/2012 20:33

whats insolia monkeysmama?

monkeysmama · 06/06/2012 21:00

I don't know - it is something M&S put in their shoes to make them comfy. I'm 8mo pg and have finally succumbed to these babies as an alternative to heels

Charliefox I usually spend £60-100ish on shoes but can afford more if I love them, more than £200 would have to be extra special though.

mirpuppet In 3 months time, I'm going to be covered in poo, vomit and drool. I'm thinking my looking good days are numbered and I want to make the most of it while I can. That and I'm very vain Wink.

chie mihara are meant to be especially good at heels you can walk in and I think iimmy choo did some nice wedges last summer. Why not wait until the net-a-porter sale (which should be soon) - and buy yourself something really nice - go pre-sale shopping now!
