14 y/o DD, v. posh wedding... help!

She's five foot 6 and a size six- no boobs or hips yet- but she still looks very young. So everything either looks too old or too babyish. The wedding is in a church so it needs to be somewhat respectable.

She loved this: www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-S2012/189503/793515/TULLE%2BDRESS

But it's still too 'grown up,' especially as she can't walk in heels.

Any help?

I don't think that looks too grown up at all. I'm sure it would look lovely with some sparkly sandals, maybe with a tiny wedge.

SarkyWench · 06/06/2012 15:23

I say go for that dress.

Maybe wedge heels as a compromise?

in black

Do you think so? Hmm, I might get her to try it on again. Maybe with a wrap as well. She just has such a baby face!

Your DD has lovely taste. Totally agree - with small wedge heels it would be spot on!

mammasiciliana · 06/06/2012 15:26

She would love those heels!

This might be easier than I thought!

I think that dress is perfect and definitely not too grown up. Go for that and the wedges.

BadgersRetreat · 07/06/2012 20:26

thats a v pretty dress - not too old for her i don't think. TBH i think only little young things could wear it!

little cardi or shrug and wedges - fab

I saw the OP earlier, and am so glad that everyone thought what I thought - very cute dress for a teen (definitely not for an old gimmer like me!) - my DD would love it - and with some little nude wedges....

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/06/2012 20:32

Saw the dress irl today. My 17 year old loved it but my 15 year old thought it looked like 'something that Ballerina Barbie would wear.' Must admit that I don't like the idea of a 14 year old in heels but I am an evil mother and dd1 had to wait until her Yr 11 prom for her first pair of heels. DD2 will do the same (although says she plans to wear her Converse anyway!).

Zara had lots of really lovely little dresses, so it would be worth getting there before the rush and getting her to try loads on. DD1 was also very taken by a cute Gatsby-style lemon one.

Another one in favour of the Zara dress, its lovely and not too old (i have seen it instore too).

tabulahrasa · 07/06/2012 20:35

I'd be a bit worried about the neckline tbh, but if that sits fine it's not too old in any other way

serin · 08/06/2012 00:07

My nearly 15 yrold loves that dress, I think it is sweet with either ballerinas or wedges.

Hooleywhipper · 08/06/2012 00:12

Like it thing it's perfect for her age and occasion

chaosisawayoflife · 08/06/2012 11:28

Might be worth a look in the new look teen section for shoes, they have some nice, low heeled shoes that would work, or pretty sparkly sandals.
