please recommend lounging clothes?

Hello all stylish people,

Can you please let me know what you all wear lounging around the house? I have just about sorted out going out of the house clothes but find myself slobbing about in ancient tracksuit pants and dh's t-shirts when I am at home and would love to find something comfy but that is a little bit more flattering. Anyone found this holy grail? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I tend to hang about silky pjs TBH. Not actual silk, that'd be fab but too pricey for my budget. Or do you mean daytime rather than evening slobbing?

dexter73 · 06/06/2012 13:55

I just wear whatever clothes I am wearing that day. I don't have special lounging clothes Grin!

garlicfanjo · 06/06/2012 13:59

I wear this and love it so much I bought two. They do one without the hood. I also bought two of these.

A lot of the time, I just wear old pyjamas or leggings though Blush

ash6605 · 06/06/2012 14:00

I've got a couple of pairs of plain black pj bottoms from Primark they were about £5 I wear them with vest tops or a t shirt then at least if I get visitors I just look like I'm wearing normal clothes rather then pjs

minipie · 06/06/2012 14:28

Gap is good for lounging clothes IME, I have some grey tracksuit bottoms from there that have a velvet ribbon at the waist and a (relatively) flattering shape so they're a bit nicer than "just" tracksuit bottoms iyswim.

I also have a couple of elderly cashmere sweaters that are too holey/grubby to wear outside but v comfy so I wear them at home.

MissFoodie · 06/06/2012 14:34

my favourites are from Charlotte & co

winefairy · 06/06/2012 14:35

I lounge. In special lounging clothes. That is what I do. Grin

Charlotte & Co. or Hush are obvious choices. Bought lots of the Charlotte & Co when it went on sale and was very impressed with the quality. It's a finer knit fabric than most and hangs really well. Even wore the harem pants out one evening on holiday Blush

winefairy · 06/06/2012 14:36

Arf! X-posts with MissFoodie! Great minds an' all that!

Haemadoots · 06/06/2012 14:39

What is lounging? I never get the chance :(

MissFoodie · 06/06/2012 14:49

i'm wearing the harem pants as we speak, with wrap cardigan and ballet flats, IN OFFICE!

redmayneslips · 06/06/2012 15:09

Thank you for all the feedback, I shall browse Charlotte and Co later in peace when dd is in bed! I had totally forgotten about Gap and must take a look in there at the weekend.

It's one of those things, I have been a sahm for the past 6yrs and found it ridiculously difficult to regain any sense of style & comfort that suited my new life outside work, and any spare cash that I had was spent on creating that wardrobe. I have finally just about cracked it and have a good few things that I love now and feel good in.

I recently got a small part time contract and have a teeny bit of money to myself (Oh how I miss a regular wage!) and have started to overhaul my undies (badly, badly needed!!), shoes and finally some decent stuff to wear about the house.

There are days when I am home all day and I don't want to wear my 'good' stuff and these are the skanky tracksuit days but to be honest it is such a 'bad look' I would be embarassed if anyone called unexpectedly iykwim?

So, what I am after is soft, cosy, comfy but semi-fitted or at least vaguely flattering hanging about the house gear, that doesn't cost the earth.

Looking forward to checking out those websites - thanks! (my dh will definitely thank you ;-)

I've got some sweaty betty wide yoga pants, they're great for wearing round the house.

:o

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 06/06/2012 15:17

Gap is great for PJ bottoms; lots of lovely prints, reasonable prices and good sales.

Also Manuka. Expensive but gorgeous. And TK Maxx sometimes have their stuff.

LaMeuf · 06/06/2012 15:18

I love lounging! I work from home so am a lounge wear fan.

I wear calmia yoga trousers from tk maxx, gap t shirts, and wrap around cardigans.flip flops in summer, uggs in winter. I also have a couple of hoodies for when it's cold.

MissFoodie · 06/06/2012 15:29

ladyclarice can't believe you posted that Manuka link..........yet another site full of gorgeous things......aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh Grin

what are the trousers like? are they thinnish jersey like Charlotte & Co?

BellaOfTheBalls · 06/06/2012 15:31

Gap Body is lovely, or Primark separates. Joules have some nice bits and Lands End as well.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 06/06/2012 15:31

Sorry! Grin

I don't know Charlotte & Co, but the Manuka trousers in my (limited) experience are quite nice and thick, but soft and slinky.

BikeRunSki · 06/06/2012 15:38

Hush fold over top yoga pants.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/06/2012 18:18

White Company yoga pant things. I usually wear these with big fluffy socks, a fitted t-shirt and a grey cardigan.

Actually, the above is a lie (at least some of the time). Usually I wear said yoga pants with an enormous cashmere jumper which I've stolen off dp, and which is v pale blue so totally not my colour - comfortable though!

winefairy · 06/06/2012 18:57

I have a Manuka top and shed loads of Calmia....all from TK Maxx, I should add.

The Calmia stuff is really nice but a few years old, plus I'm really loving the harem style at the moment as it looks marginally less like loungewear. I work from home too so probably have a slightly different slant on it.

Really liking these on the site that LadyClarice linked to, for example. Thinking they might be quite slinky.

So love my Charlotte & Co stuff though. And was such a bargain. Bought 3 pairs of the harem pants Blush

GeorgieSwallow · 12/06/2012 10:23

When I'm lounging at home, I end up wearing leggings and big baggy top (sometimes i throw in a nice necklace) - its comfortable and stylish!

CagneyNLacey · 12/06/2012 11:04

Gap has a decent sale on at the mo - up to 50% off some stuff, plus if you sign up for emails you get a further 15% off. I bought balance pants (like yoga pants) and a few tops. Ideal for throwing on and knocking about.

I like the Hush stuff someone linked to upthread. I've never had nice but casual stuff to put on before, it's revolutionised my life Blush

SirEdmundFrillary · 12/06/2012 11:05

Brocade dressing gown and a velvet smoking cap, natch.

CagneyNLacey · 12/06/2012 11:10

And a monocle to complete the look, I hope.

SirEdmundFrillary · 12/06/2012 11:13

Most certainly.
