The snood of snood wearers was Noel Gordon in Crossroads (There's me showing my age) I remember watching it with my mum.

did anyone have one of them belts that were like a nurses belt but with a butterfly for the fastening bit?the rest of it was wide elastic.had 3 of them, thought they were great!!!glad my taste in clothes has changed!

prettybird · 22/02/2006 14:10

Actually, my black snood is still upstairs in the loft with my old ski gear. It was back up for when it was snowy - I used it to cover my hair, while my nice fleece "turtle neck" keeps my neck warm

But this year I didn't take it with me on my skiing holiday! Took ds' fleece disney hat instead when it snowed! (he prefers his "spiderman" hat)

prettybird · 22/02/2006 14:13

I had one of those belts. Also had a favourite dress with bat wing sleeves (it was soooo elegant)

Greensleeves · 22/02/2006 14:17

Can you still get snoods? They look damn sensible to me

welshmum · 22/02/2006 14:21

those belts are in Top Shop now

lahdeedah · 22/02/2006 14:26

sometimes when I go into TopShop it feels like going through a timewarp to 1983...

WigWamBam · 22/02/2006 16:10

Hausfrau, I really don't have anything against Nik Kershaw. Apart from his penchant for wearing snoods. It was a bad enough look on a girl but on Nikkers it was scary ...

prettybird · 23/02/2006 11:58

And what about matching tights to shoe colour? I was particularly fond of a turquoise shoes, trurqoiuse top, black skirt and turquoise top combination. (had the turquoise eye shaodw and turquoise ear-rings too!)

Trinny and Susannah would be in their element!

MerlinsBeard · 23/02/2006 12:01

nooooo i am an eighties child and cringe with horror at the thought of most of it making a comeback!!

also could NEVER be famous because of said clothes in photos...shell suits anyone??!

stephanie21 · 23/02/2006 12:07

ooohhh!!!i had a lovely white shell suit with pink stripes down the sides!!how trendy was i??also used to wear matching eyeshadow to my clothes!!i sound really old now!(am 31)

prettybird · 23/02/2006 12:50

Gosh - shell suits - now that brings back memories (not that I ever own ed one, I hasten to add!).

Once went on a skiing holiday and a couple fo the other grils in the chalet were real Essex girls (no disrespect to essex girls on Mumsnet of course! ): they really did ski in white shell suits with pink stripes down the sides (and then wondered why they got cold! ), with white lipstick and fake tans. Can't have been you though Stephanie21 - you're too young!

stephanie21 · 23/02/2006 12:52

no,im a yorkshire lass!!

stephanie21 · 23/02/2006 12:53

thank you for saying 31 is young!!am happy now!!

prettybird · 23/02/2006 13:13

To a 44 year old (fast apporaching 45), you are but a youngster!

stephanie21 · 23/02/2006 13:26

dont you think its funny how, when you are young (teens) and if you met someone the age you are now,you thought they were really old?but being as old as i am now,i still feel exactly how i did when i was 16!(just got a few wrinkles and bit more weight than i had then!!)(oh,and 5 more kids!)

prettybird · 23/02/2006 13:36

I can remember writing in a diary, aged 13.5, about meeting another girls at friends of my parents who was very friendly to me - even though she was sixteen

stephanie21 · 23/02/2006 13:38

do you know,i can remember stuff from when i was a teenager better than i can rememberstuff that happens now!!ahhh, the good old days!!
