Bra tips

Hi I have worn good bras for probs 10 years and have them fitted from time to time to make sure that I keep buying the right size over the years.

Am currently a 32F.

Find that Fantasie bras are the best.

Despite this though, I am fairly tall with quite a long body and find that my boobs tend to look a bit low.

Any tips for elevation?

Get measured again to make sure your size hasn't changed. Maybe Freya bras.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 04/06/2012 17:28

Yeah maybe I should get measured again. And take a trip to R&P perhaps.

I don't find Freya bras fit that well.

maybe you just need a different type of bra? Pushups and balconnet bras are more uplifting - try Freya Deco for example.

GobblersKnob · 05/06/2012 07:55

I find Freya Jolie gives very good uplift, but much depends on the shape of your boobs.

The very best bras for lifting I have found are from Kris Line. Don't be put off by the porn looking models Grin. The only problemwith them is they can be quite hard to size, they tend to come up small in the back and possibly in the cup too, I had to try on quite a few to get a good fit.

The give astonishing shape though, the engineering is incredible, I don't know how they do it.

SilverSky · 05/06/2012 07:57

Bravissimo is great. They do all kinds from balconette to moulded tshirt bras. Good bra is essential.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 05/06/2012 08:06

Thanks.
I have a Jolie. The Deco I haven't tried although I've not had much luck with smoothing type bras.
Not seen the Kris Line. May try one. Cheap...
Think refitting in order.

New bras tend to work for me. After a couple of months, it's as if they're just too knackered to carry on under the strain anymore! My bras have a lot to put up with - literally! It's an expensive habit tho, buying new (and expensive) bras all the time.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 05/06/2012 10:21

Yes I agree.

I don't really understand why I seem to have larger boobs now. They seem to have grown. Bizarre.

OP posts:
GobblersKnob · 05/06/2012 10:37

I am having a growing problem, I have only been wearing a correctly fitting bra for less than a year, I went form a 36C to a 32F. Then I was a 30FF and now seem to be a 30G. This is getting expensive. Especially as I buy far too many bras Grin

There is a theory about badly fitting bras and fat migration, but it you have been wearing the right size for years then that probably doesn't apply to you, though I think it might to me, here anyway if you are interested.

marriednotdead · 05/06/2012 10:45

Which Fantasie style(s) do you wear? Some are far more uplifting than others, notably the moulded smoothing one. Agree that Freya Deco gives good lift, a personal favourite. Also Panache moulded plunge t shirt bra.

Fantasie styles are usually v generous in both cup and band so you may well be a bigger size in other brands. Is there a Bravissimo near you?

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 05/06/2012 23:40

I wear a variety of lacey Fantasie bras. Not sure of the names. One is the Helena I think. I did try a moulded one a long time ago and it didn't seem right but need to retry. Was concerned that the moulded ones would make me look bigger but maybe they won't really.

I will try the ones that you mention.

Is Panache good?

Don't know of a Bravissimo round here. Originally went to R&P, mostly HOF and Debenhams and JL nowadays. I think I know a good fitter when I find one but maybe I need to ring the changes a little.

I love Fantasie bras for uplift... best in the business (believe me, i've tried em all). Best of the lot is the smooth moulded cup one that comes in black and nude and has tiny bows on the straps and centre of cups (cannot recall name, sorry). Think it's about £28 in Bravissimo.

marriednotdead · 05/06/2012 23:45

The Helena balconette is fine but the full cup version is awful, ditto the Belle. Panache are great, firmer wires and fit than Fantasie.

thenightsky · 05/06/2012 23:48

this little beauty is what I'm talking about. Shame they don't do it in white anymore though.

Itsgottabebags · 05/06/2012 23:58

You nEed to try Fantasie savannah and Elodie. I have two Fantasie bras that were my first ones from them and I got them where they I was measured. Imo they are not so much lifting but shapes my boobs in to being more rounded. They are the matronly bras of my little bra family.

Elodie and Savanah are not matronly in the slightest and imo give great shape and uplift.

Savannah

Itsgottabebags · 06/06/2012 00:02

Thenightsky. That (looks nice. I might give it a whirl myself. I have two moulded bras and both (vv cheap) don't fit

HazleNutt · 06/06/2012 06:49

this is similar to the smoothing one, but even better - moulded, but incredibly light and soft
Rebecca

marriednotdead · 06/06/2012 07:34

thenightsky they don't do it in white anymore because the foam layer kept discolouring, making the bra look dingy.

And white bras show through everything! It needs to be as dark as your skin (nude) or darker. I have an Asian/olive complexion and can wear dark pink and purple under a white shirt.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 06/06/2012 09:12

Right thanks. Gonna order the two moulded ones as an experiment.

OP posts:
GobblersKnob · 06/06/2012 10:21

Have you measured yourself as a rough check before you order?

There is a bra calculator here that actually is pretty correct.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 06/06/2012 19:24

Will do. I usually get measured in a shop but will try at home.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 18/06/2012 22:09

Right - I tried two Panache moulded ones. The moulded plunge seems good and I have kept it - the corresponding non plunge version is not so good and is going back.

Have also ordered black and nude Fantasie moulded ones from Figleaves sale - high hopes for these - maybe they will replace my Fantasie lacy ones.

Was impressed with bra calculator by the way. Tried it on me and two friends and it seemed very accurate. I came out as the 32F that I thought I was - then had bras checked in HOF and JL and they were also happy with the 32F sizing.

Only thing I have found with the smoothing bras is that they do seem somewhat harder to fit. They seem to fit more rigidly and therefore are more likely to seem loose or conversely too tight over boobs that are not exactly the same size..

Freshletticia · 18/06/2012 23:54

Oh, thenightsky those are my favourite ones. I have black and nude and an ancient pink one.
Recently bought 2 Cleo bras, they are made by Panache I think but are very balconette and amazingly uplifting, giving that nice rounded look, not flat or pointy. I'm a 34 GG and they fit really well. Actually lift and separate IYSWIM. i can't stand my boobs being squished together. www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/sensational-sets/alexa-bra/teal/cl46te/?criteria=cleo%20bras&show=16&sort=1&level=3

The Deco bras are ok too.

whackamole · 19/06/2012 13:42

It's probably just the straps stretching over time, but I have found that some styles the straps are just too long. I must have a short body.

Northumberlandlass · 19/06/2012 13:49

I wear Fantasie moulded bra's for everyday. My absolute favourites are Fauve ...but £££ for me to justify!

I am long in the body too and don't have any problems, but I think as I wash them the straps seem to loosen and I have to alter straps after wash.
