Are any Fitflops reasonably stylish/flattering?

I think they look ok on skinny people but for me, size 14, big bosomed, they just make me look chunky. Was wondering if any of the styles would be more flattering as am keen on trying them for comfort.

I have the hooper ones in the tan. I also have long slim tanned legs in my dreams

John Lewis sell them.

Enragia · 02/06/2012 12:08

ARE ALL SHIT

Iamcalledclaire · 02/06/2012 12:40

Aren't they just fit flops with a thicker sole??

How can they be so much uglier then flip flops in general then?

Unless you hate fit flops in general it seems an extreme reaction to some thick soled flip flops.

I love my fit flops. I don't consider them stylish or chic obviously but they're casual, comfortable...er and like flip flops with a thicker sole....but then I like flip flops in the summer in general.

postmanpatscat · 02/06/2012 12:49

I find them v comfortable too, and will wear them all year. I also have the trainers for winter.

They must do something good for you, a whole day in those when I'm walking a lot and my legs ache like I've been for a run.

yellowraincoat · 02/06/2012 13:08

Iamcalledclaire - the material is ugly, the shape is ugly and flip flops just don't look good with a thick sole.

hungryhippos - my calves ache after wearing heels all day, but I don't think that means they are good for me. Probably they just force your leg into an uncomfortable position.

Didn't sketchers have a similar range and have to retract a statement that they were good for you?

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 02/06/2012 13:12

I have a pair of grey fitflops and lve them as they are so comfy. I agree they're not attractive.
We're off to Barcelona on Monday and dh has asked if they are coming too.

Yes they are. For walking round a city in heat they are perfect.

HRHBarbaraWoodlouse · 02/06/2012 14:41

Arf at Mr Duvall. There are four of us in our marriage. Me, her and The Fit Flops Grin

I've just ordered a second pair off the back of all these fit flip hating discussion threads Smile

Housewife2010 · 02/06/2012 14:43

I'm slightly lusting after the silver sequinned ones but you're all scaring me off now. I'm a longterm Mephisto wearer (more niche than Birkenstocks!)

bishboschone · 02/06/2012 14:45

I have some . I used them for work when I was on my feet all day . They are fab for that but I feel more feminine in havaianas which are actually nearly as comfy .

busyboysmum · 02/06/2012 14:50

As an ex indie kids Doc Marten wearer I don't feel myself in anything delicate and girly so they are the ideal for me! I think they look fine, they are incredibly comfy, I think they are good for your back, not sure about the toning thing but makes no difference to me.

I ended up buying a pair of trainer type ones as had been getting sciatica from wearing converse with all the walking I do and decided I needed more support and they have been amazing as well.

moomoo1967 · 02/06/2012 14:57

I have been using the Avon ones for the past two years, my current ones are black with silver sequins, they are so comfortable that I hate having to go to work and wear proper shoes. Here is the link for this years version www.e-pages.dk/uk_avon/421/ p26

BalloonSlayer · 02/06/2012 16:36

I went into Jones the Bootmaker and had a look at some this afternoon. Man they are ugly! And really wide.

These ones on the Sole Trader website looked nice though, and for thin feet. But I didn't see any.

piratecat · 02/06/2012 16:43

i can't say i would have gone for them for style purposes, i went for them to help ease plantar faciitis, which they did. I can no longer wear flat flip flops, they wreck my arch and make my back ache. They have also helped my pelvis and back (spd ten yrs ago).

I am always in jeans, so they look fine. I have two pairs, and also 4 pairs of Birkenstock relax. these are also a god send for my posture.

piratecat · 02/06/2012 16:46

yes i have always been a bit of an indie kid, adidas trainers and bike boots, so i feel at home in the clumpiness. i would prob feel different if i was more used to wearing more delicate or feminine things tbh.

i love my cushion shoes Grin

EssentialFattyAcid · 02/06/2012 18:01

Fit flops are great for my posture and musculoskeletal pain - so comfortable I LOVE them

saythatagain · 02/06/2012 18:08

Blush I have three pairs.....black, pewter & gold (Electra I think). But you know what? I love 'em! I've still to see a tight derrier though.

anniewoo · 02/06/2012 19:30

The slip on / no toe post are less obviously Fitflop

LookAtAllTheseFucksIGive · 03/06/2012 01:14

You guys should get commission. After reading how comfy they are, and 12 hours on my feet today I need something I can wear to work (I work in a bar). I'm sick of foot bondage. I hope they work for me and I couldn't give a stuff how they look. I crave comfy shoes. www.amazon.co.uk/FitFlop-Supertone-Leather-Black-UK6/dp/B007D5MTU4/ref=sr_1_9?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1338680510&sr=1-9 A bargain at £40 you might agree... :o]]

LookAtAllTheseFucksIGive · 03/06/2012 01:14

Whoops

Housewife2010 · 03/06/2012 22:04

I've just ordered the Electra in Palladium (silver sequins). However, I can't get the early comment from a MNetter that "You can't polish a turd!" out of my head!

puds11 · 03/06/2012 22:21

whole site of them

FrameyMcFrame · 05/08/2012 16:42

just got these
I'm a convert, they are SO comfortable but I'm not sure if they are at all stylish...

magso · 14/08/2012 09:26

Lookatall can you wear them bare legged? I hate wearing socks in summer but get sore heels/ankles without them. Will go and see if they fit my bunioned feet.

doglover · 14/08/2012 11:41

Love them. Love them. Love them. Have chronic plantar fascitis (sp?) and they mean I can live a normal life.

daisydoodoo · 14/08/2012 13:50

i have some, they are comfortable which is why i wear them and they don;t hurt my calves when i wear them. I work in an office and out to see clients all week, so have to be dressed in formal workwear which includes heels for me, so to slip on a pair of fitflops or birkenstocks on the weekend might not be the most fashion forward thing i have ever done, but at 36 and mum to 4 i do need comfort sometimes.
