Mine needs inspiration! He wears shirt/jeans/brown shoes OR polo-shirt/jeans/trainers

Mine buys suits from boss for court, and canali for pleasure. But my fave DH suit is a navy Jaegar one

He lives in preppy shorts from uniqlo, and chinos

He shops once a year, but doesn't like spending money! He doesn't actually need any mOre clothes but lives me buying him shirts and cashmere jumpers!

For evening he likes shirts from Gant, Ralph Lauren because I bought them for him. He, himself buys from uniqlo and TM Lewin and realised why primark fit and quality is bad! He will also pet me buy him from Zara (sale).

drywhiteplease · 01/06/2012 23:30

Mine wears almost exclusively SuperDry stuff, with the occasional pair of jeans from Ted Baker or Diesal. It's not that I dislike the way he dresses, it's just that it's the same if we're sitting in the house, he's off to work or out in the evening.

Also, he only ever wears trainers. And one brand of trainers in a multitude of colours. They're lovely trainers but his feet must get very hot in summer.

TheCountessOlenska · 02/06/2012 08:12

noviceoftheday, yes he already has Ralph Lauren stuff - and I didn't think I'd heard of Gant but it just occurred to me that his glasses are made by them! So I will look into them thanks!

Also, I am fascinated by this thread - keep those DH's coming!

My husband is very well dressed. Worked in men's fashion for years and has a very clear idea of his own style. At the moment he's into tailored denim shorts with deck shoes and washed out (plain) tees, last summer was chinos with a pin tuck, long sleeved shirt and vans type sneakers. He always looks great... The disadvantage is that I feel like a bit of a scruff!

dexter73 · 02/06/2012 08:33

teanosugar - thanks for the tip about River Island jeans. My husband is a cycling fanatic so he has large thighs/bum even though the rest of him is slim.

AgeingFop · 02/06/2012 08:53

cybbo: I don't think so. I don't remember my DW browsing Mumsnet when we were watching TV together last night! Smile

This thread is heartening for me. Glad I'm not the only DH who spends too much on clothes and fusses about what is written on the t-shirt or if the checks are too small on the shirt or if the trousers are too short or too baggy around the thigh, etc, etc.

roughtyping · 02/06/2012 09:07

OH wears jeans and generally band tshirts with trainers. When I nag him tell him how sexy it looks he'll wear slim fit grey trousers and a slim fit shirt with his lovely big black boots. OH is very slim, about 5'7 and 26. Wish I knew how to dress either of us well!

noddyholder · 02/06/2012 09:10

My ds and dp both wearing semi tailored shorts atm too with plimsolls/boat shoes. Also dp just bought some grey linen slim rolled up trousers from zara very nice

roughtyping · 02/06/2012 09:11

Oooh Noddy they sound lovely! Will need to have a look for OH

DaydreamDolly · 02/06/2012 09:14

One of my friends recently described my DH as 'intimidatingly trendy' Grin
He wears top to toe All Saints, jeans, chinos, tailored shorts, deck shoes, v neck washed out tees, cardigans, always looks c stylish. I love it but it does mean I have to try to keep up.... Hmm

MoonlightandRoses · 02/06/2012 09:18

Does anyone ever find their DP / DH sticks religiously to just one style? Smart casual in a mod-esque way is all well and good (and way better than the tat he was in when we first met), but I now cannot get him to wear anything else.

Any tips, anyone?

cybbo · 02/06/2012 17:56

Nodded my H just discovered tailored shorts too. I was worried he would look like someone dressed up like a little boy but he managed to carry it off

also rolls trousers up like Matt Bianco ( he wishes)

noddyholder · 02/06/2012 18:31

Yep dp likes a bit of matt bianco too! Mango good for that sort of thing

noddyholder · 02/06/2012 18:40

in my dreams

cybbo · 02/06/2012 18:45

Buying clothes is so easy if you are a bloke. There are like, 6 things in different colours in every shop. and that's it

noddyholder · 02/06/2012 18:53

I know and if you have half a clue you look good in most things Dp does and he's bloody 51! Less pressure than women

whatlauradid · 02/06/2012 19:11

You really wouldn't want to take style advice from my partner! Jeans that are too big in the leg, shapeless tshirts, a black hoodie and steel toe capped boots. Ugly sandals also make an appearance. Sometimes he'll wear an open shirt over a tshirt. :o. He's happy so I leave him to it. I bet he hates my printed trousers and sheer shirts!

cybbo · 02/06/2012 19:24

yep my H 50 this year and has never looked trendier or slimmer or as young

Bastard

mrsebojones · 02/06/2012 19:52

OOh DH has an old pair of deck shoes in the cupboard. I think he thought they were out of fashion! I will tell him not so :)

I feel your pain cybbo - DH is 6 years older than me. At 41, he can pass for early 30s, effortlessly tall, slim, less greys than me...

Bastard indeed
