I love my bracelet, but have found that wearing it daily, the split rings snag very easily. Has anyone else had this problem and taken it to a jewellers for alteration? My local jewellers won't touch it, even though rings are only stainless steel, they are worried about heating the rhodium plated charm and the silver. Anyone else overcome?x

To fix these things a lot of places would just suggest to take it back to Links to mend. It will probably be more expensive than your local jewellers but if they damage a charm etc then they can replace it easily.

Independent stores are not likely to carry out the work unless they can be sure that you aware of the risks that it entails and that they aren't at fault if something were to happen to 'branded' goods.

Mending a split ring should cost a tenner at a reputable jewellers, it's not particularily difficult but if you have a lot of charms or split ring is very close to the charm etc, as your previous jeweller said - there's always a risk.

Links have repaired mine when ever I have had a problem.

Could you not just buy some new split rings?

I'm 200 miles from my nearest Links and apparently need to have the charms put directly onto a restrung bracelet. So want to wear it! No local jewellers will touch as u can't solder stainless steel .

Split rings cost about £1 for the Links ones from a jeweller that stocks the Links bracelets. You can get bags of rings more cheaply on eBay but I haven't tried these. You just put them on the bracelet the same way you put keys on a key ring. Not sure why you would need the bracelet restrung?

Stainless steel split rings are soft and snag on everything. I am planning on having the charms strung directly on to the bracelet now as that is the only way links can suggest they will be more secure.
