Rosacea help...concealer

Mrsrobertduvall · 29/05/2012 15:22

I have just been diagnosed with rosacea Sad and have a face like a smallpox victim. I realise I cannot stay at home in a darkened room forever, so am planning to venture out tomorrow in a balaclava.
I need new concealer anyway...usually use Clinique.
Can anyone suggest a better one...I looked at Creme de la mer ££££££. I need mega coverage.
Also has anyone used Clinique cityblock?

You need Bare Minerals Bisque concealor - it is a miracle worker, seriously. Look on ebay to get it cheaper or Feelunique website - get the concealor brush as well as it's probably the only Bare Minerals brush I think is any good. It really is magic in a pot :)

Dermablend. By Vichy. Its fab .

laura mercier - comes with a brush & 2 colours so you can blend exact shade. then mineral makeup over

I also have rosacea, am naturally very pale (ginger nut), which of these is the best for pale complexions?

Has your GP given you any medicated creams? I find bare minerals can help and don't cause flair ups. Have also tried benefit boi-ing. My skin really reacts to caffeine and lack of sleep and where i am in my monthly cycle!!
It is all so annoying and at one point just felt like a clown and everyone was staring at me when I left the house. Mine only started after I had my daughter.

Benefit boiling was the perfect colour and consistency but last all of 10 minutes on my skin which is a shame.

No creams..have got 6 weeks of antibiotics.
This morning it does look better...I used Dermalogica ultra calming mask and serum last night, and it is not as bad as yesterday.

Rosacea Care is your friend. My mum has rosacea and loves this stuff - she always asks me for it for Christmas/birthdays

Mrsrobertduvall · 30/05/2012 09:59

Suburbandweller...just googled this. Looks excellent, thanks.

If you want a covering foundation, have you tried clinique Repair Wear? it's got great coverage. Also Bobbi Brown stick foundation is good and their concealers.

Also have rosacea, was fairly stubborn so went to dermatologist. He said antibiotics are good but I was allergic so got prescribed duac. Can't recommend highly enough. He said when he prescribes it he rarely gets patients asking for a follow up appointment. Wonder if you could try it via your gp

slp123 · 30/05/2012 20:36

Is duac a topical cream?

audley · 30/05/2012 21:17

Yes it is, applied at night.

Benefit Boiing concealer for me (described as industrial strength! but looks good on and only usually needs one or maybe 2 applications per day - am dreading any discontinuation!). Also antibiotics and infra-red treatment at our private hospital. Oh and Clinique Even Better foundation is great though their roseacea skin care products really made me worse. Have found that M&S sensitive skin moisturiser is fab and the only one that doesn't irritate (have tried clinique and dermalogica skincare ranges for lengthy periods). Less is more when it come to cleansers, moisturisers etc from experience.
