Long sleeved high neck tops for super sensitive skin on hot days...

Hi, after months of chemotherapy and weeks of radiotherapy for breast cancer I have been left with horribly reactive and sun-sensitive skin. I have heat rash all over my neck, collar bone, and arm after this weekend, despite slapping on factor 50 (for super sensitive skin) Sad

It only calmed down (a little bit) since I covered up completely in one of DH's shirts with the collar buttoned and turned up and stopped with the sun cream. So I think I probably need some lovely cooling shirts I can cover up in.

Has anyone more stylish than me got any ideas what I could wear to cover up?

I don't want to spend anything over £50. I live in jeans on bottom half if that helps. Am at a loss what might cover me up but not either make me boil to death underneath or look really crap.

Any ideas?

What about one of those skins for sports? To keep cool rather than warm? I know what I mean, I'll have a google.

Have a look on ebay for long sleeved shirts and tunics, then add a light cotton scarf to protect up your neck. The good thing about ebay is you get a big variety
I think light cottons or linen is actually cooler than having bare arms tbh

I can't find one. I can find the Cold ones, ie, you wear them in the cold to keep warm, but they also do Warm, as in wear in the warm to cool down. I'll keep looking.

sort of like this

Go Outdoors do a product called buff. Like a snood but they also do a summer version. Very lightweight but stops my poor skin flaring up. Or a maxi dress and a HUGE hat? Add dark glasses for extra glamour!

I've had an ASOS trawl, see if there's anything you like in this lot:

this is a decent option, but no collar. It's loose and cotton though which is what you need.

here is one with a collar

this is a mix of silk and cotton which would feel lovely on your skin

this is pretty but I guess too low at the neck - unless you wear a light scarf?

this is a bit more feminine/casual than a shirt

another

this fits the bill but is totally hideous IMO

this could be lovely

These aren't very stylish polo shirt but I think they would work well They will be UV protective as they from Cancer Council Australia but they ship world wide. They have hoodies also

Hi MrsMcNulty... firstly, much sympathy for your health issues...
I have polymorphic light eruption and various sun sensitivities.. and am also covered in heat rash and blisters along with patches of uneven pigmentation, so you can imagine I look gorgeous at the mo! :)
Is it possible for you to take anti histamines? if so, it definitely helps.
sun tan lotion wise, you don't want those high factor white lotions, they block the pores and make things worse. I use Piz Buin anti allergy but tbh I'm not sure it works. the only option really is stay out of the sun and try not to sweat!
Sometimes when the rash is really bad, I use holland and Barrett 99.9% aloe vera gel with mixed results but it's worth a go and it's nice and cooling.
Other than that, I wear t shirts and and scarves... I tend to go for All saints.
Hope that helps a little.

Hi thanks to all who have replied, this is so helpful. I am so unstylish and frumpy I never know where to start with clothes shopping!

Thanks Ingles2 I am avoiding sun cream (and sun) today and the rash is a bit better. I have been slapping on E45 and it seems to have calmed it down a bit. I will get a cotton scarf to cover up when I wear lower necked tops.

I think tight tops like the ones Squirted suggests are out unfortunately - I am also wonky boobed thanks to lumpectomy Sad, so clothes need to be a bit loose to hide my lop-sidedness!

minipie thank you so much I love a few of those, will have a good look at them tonight when my little one is in bed and think I will order some!

glad to help! don't know if you have shopped at ASOS before but if not, returns are free and really easy, so you can always send them back...
