Thread veins on legs

I have been cursed with some patchy thread veins on my legs and have decided to have them treated. I had laser a few years back and it did nothing - apparently only works from waist up and is rubbish for legs.

I had a consultation for Sclerotherapy and the dr seemed confident it would make a considerable difference but I was hoping for some advice from anyone who has been treated first.

My legs aren't too bad but I seem to have a cluster on my ankle which looks like a bruise and I am particularly self conscious of it. Then some other patches have cropped up, and them seem to be increasing with age. In am 37 ny the way.

Any advice is very gratefully received.

Hello! I have a similar thread going at the moment too...legs are too marked for me to feel confident about getting them out, and have been so hot! One patch of mine looks like a bruise, I didn't realise for quite a long time, thought it was a real bruise that wouldn't go.
I'd love sclerotherapy, but don't know how to find a reputable place that I would trust. Hope someone come along to help us!

Anyone out there who can offer advice to us both?

I've posted on the other thread - I hope it's helpful.

I have veins, I just think "doc it"

have you tried fake tan, and then some foundaton/beautry balm to mask the worst bits

Please can you post the link for the other thread? Thank you

oh i have these too. and even starting to develop varicose veins :(

its a shame because i have really decent legs otherwise, long and slim but i am too self conscious to get them out much.

MistyRocks · 29/05/2012 18:06

but as others have said, fake tan helps a bit

I have horrible veins in my legs and have been wanting to get rid of them for aaages.

Went to clinic in London cost £170 for one treatment. Has only made a small difference but was told that the first time "shocks the vein" & doesn't actually gets rid of many. It's only after the second treatment that (they said) I would notice a substantial difference.

Another thing to note (given it's summery at the mo) is that you are bruised & spotty for about 3 weeks afterwards - I definitely looked worse after the treatment than before...

I am going to go back for another treatment though!!

I was thinking the same thing this week. I have a big one on my calf which looks like a bruise and then smaller ones on my ankle and top of my knees.

lashingsofbingeinghere · 29/05/2012 23:29

I had sclerotherapy and it made sod all difference. Had two sessions then gave up as it didn't seem to be making any difference. It reduced a minor patch on my lower leg, but my thighs are as bad as ever, pretty much. I now fake tan/cover up.

Dosey · 30/05/2012 21:14

Hi there ladies, I have had sclerotherapy twice and mine still look as bad as ever mine are really bad. The therapist I had said my veins were the worst she had ever seen Sad.

Decameron · 30/05/2012 21:19

I've just noticed yesterday how horrible the veins on my legs are too. It's annoying as my legs are long and fairly slim. Sounds like sclerotherapy won't do much. No more shorts, I fear!

ASByatt · 30/05/2012 21:22

Clicked onto this hoping for an answer - my legs are awful and rapidly getting worse now, varicose veins around the knee and patches of what look like bruises lower down. I'm only 41, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek

puggirl · 30/05/2012 21:40

Search for linspins thread on veins (sorry I can't add links for the life of me). Someone says they had Sclerotherapy at SK:N clinic with good results.

I had a look online and clinics in most big cities. £50 trial but refundable against further treatment. You can chose nurse or Dr and get a discount for multiple sessions.

This is cheaper than I had been quoted for less treatments. I think I may throw caution to the wind and try it. My legs are otherwise not too bad ( ignoring the lumpy cellulite and fat thighs-which can be hidden away).

I had been told it will look worse before it gets better and you must wear some lovely compression tights for a while too Smile

I had sclerotherapy last year, l had 2 massive patches on each thigh & now they look fantastic. I've just had another baby so have developed a few more so I'm planning on having the treatment again next year.

I don't know where you are based, I'm in the south east the the woman's name is Claire Judge.
