Any other fake tan refusers?

Lottapianos · 28/05/2012 10:31

This is my third year running without fake tan and life is so much less stressful! I used to spend so much time worrying about streaks and patches, exfoliating, applying evenly etc etc. I just can't be bothered now Smile

I'm quite pale but arms seem to pick up the first blink of sun and turn lightly golden. Legs are pretty white but again, can't really be bothered to do anything about it. Minimum factor 15 on all exposed parts, factor 30 if out for long periods in the sun. Factor 50 on face - makes me look like Casper the ghost so add BB cream on top and I think that makes me look human Smile
Any other refuseniks?

Fake tan is horrible. You own skin, if properly cared for (exfoliated and moisturised, hair removed where appropriate) will always be a lot more attractive.

scentednappyhag · 28/05/2012 10:33

I couldn't catch a tan if you locked me in a sunbed, and I am definitely a fake tan refuser!
I'd look ridiculous brown anyway Grin

'You own skin, if properly cared for (exfoliated and moisturised, hair removed where appropriate) will always be a lot more attractive'

So true Bonsoir. With this hot weather, I've been wearing loads of suncream and showering and moisturisng twice a day. My skin is absolutely loving it and is glowing from all the extra moisture!

Ooh me too, I can't be doing with it! I found a few where the colour was ok for me (pale skin) but the smell, the orange sheets, the faff of applying - no, no, no!

I haven't used it for around 3 years either, and don't feel so much pressure to be brown these days - is it finally going out of fashion!?

insancerre · 28/05/2012 10:41

have never used and never will

perceptionreality · 28/05/2012 10:41

I'm usually very white but I've just had a Fake Bake spray tan which looks really good. Tbh it is a faff though, the smell etc when you're waiting to wash the guide colour off.

bakingaddict · 28/05/2012 10:43

Many years ago I came to the conclusion that I was going to celebrate my pale english skin and renounce tanning. We get maybe 10 days a year of hot weather so I dont really care if my legs and arms are a bit white for shorts and skirts rather than the strange orange hue of fake tan, i'm just going to bloody well enjoy the sunshine

get0rfm0iland · 28/05/2012 10:49

I gave up on it a few years ago as well. What a pain in the arse that was, and it probably looked like shit as well.

I am very pale, so just embrace the paleness now. Far better.

MrsApplepants · 28/05/2012 10:51

Never used it either, i like my pale skin just the way it is! Even if I didn't, really could not be arsed with all the faff of fake tan

poorbuthappy · 28/05/2012 10:53

I am very pale and have only done fake tan once. Never again. It lasted about 4 mjns before it fell off in flakes (even though it was done professionally).
I am pale and proud.

jaffacakehips · 28/05/2012 10:56

I'm blonde with blue eyes and very very fair skin. I do two shades of colour, white and lobster pink! I would rather be my own delightful pale self than slap on any fake tan. However I'm very Envy of a good natural tan.

bronze · 28/05/2012 11:03

I just stay looking like
Semi skimmed milk
I have great problems with dry skin on my face and hands (psoriasis) and the hair follicles on my legs are really raised and get irritated easily so putting on fake tan never works

Lottapianos · 28/05/2012 11:05

Oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I was worried about getting told off for scaring the horses with my white legs. Slap on the factor 50 ladies and keep on rocking! Grin

I HATE fake tan!
Maybe I'd see it differently if I didn't tan easily anyway, but it's the ORANGENESS. I've never seen anyone who looks anything other than ridiculous with it. I'd far rather see nicely looked after pale natural skin on anyone

MustControlFistOfDeath · 28/05/2012 11:12

Urban Dictionary: Pale and Interesting

Someone (usually a girl, but can be a guy) who has pale skin and rejects the tanning trend. Used as a compliment to someone who embraces their pale skin and natural beauty. Implies that a person is more intelligent/interesting, as tanning can be associated with obsession over appearance and thus a lower intellect.

I shall embrace my daz bluey-whiteness I still wish I could tan though

I hate fake tan. There is nothing wrong with the colour of my skin, or anyone elses for that matter.

Fake tan, fake nails, fake eyelashes, fake boobs...................where will it stop? I just go as I am!

madmomma · 28/05/2012 11:34

white as a sheet here, mainly cos I just cannot be arsed with the upkeep,

TheGruffalosbitch · 28/05/2012 11:54

Pale and interesting girl here! I use to have being pale but now I embrace it and love it. I wear factor 50 all the time. Why would I want to look like everyone else? I also make sure I don't wear black as I have black hair (natural) and don't want to look like a goth

slug · 28/05/2012 11:56

Tans and even bronzing powder looks odd on me. I embrace the pale.

wildfig · 28/05/2012 14:25

Fake tan makes me look grubby, not golden. Bronzer even more so. I've never found a 'foolproof gradual tanning moisturiser' that didn't give me giraffe-y patches, and now I share lotta's approach - all the Factor 30 being slapped on each morning is making my blue-white skin look soft and nourished, and that's much nicer for me.

Pinkglow · 28/05/2012 15:40

I've used so so many fake tans over the years. Some are just horrible in everyway and others can look quite natural and nice but you have to shop around and try loads.

I dont bother any more with it because no matter how nice it might look, it is still a massive PITA to apply and maintain. I'm glad I dont bother any more.

Ephiny · 28/05/2012 15:46

It's never occurred to me to use a fake tan. My skin is naturally quite pale, but I've never thought of that as a bad thing. When I was younger I sometimes got a bit of a real tan from spending a lot of time outdoors, but now I'm more careful to cover up or use sunscreen.

I'm sure fake tan can look OK when it's done well (not streaky or orange) but personally I'm happy as I am. When did it become 'wrong' to have fair skin?

whackamole · 28/05/2012 16:07

I stopped using fake tan about 3 years ago, after I'd had first children. That first summer I did use it occasionally, but it was such a fret trying to make sure it didn't streak/look orange/collect on my knees that now I just can't be bothered.

I don't tan at all. My sister has olive skin and tans by looking at the sun. If I could be bothered I'd tan my legs a bit as they are very very white and large and I do look better with a bit of colour.
