Inspiration needed post surgery - none of my clothes currently any good!

I had a laparotomy 8 days ago. It appeared to bring on a heatwave. After a rough week, I'm just about able to start thinking about seeing people again but what the hell to wear! I can't tolerate anything with a waist but most of my dresses go in at the waist, tie at the back etc. Trousers a no go. I'm little 6-8 and maxi dresses don't do much for me. I have 32b boobs. But my tummy is currently big and swollen like I'm 4-5 months pregnant which is unfortunate as it is an infertility op any ideas for something stylish, loose and not on any way pregnant suggesting? Or should just wear nighties for 2 months and be done with it?!

Dorothy Perkins have some nice maxi dresses in their petite range which may work.

Or gap have a nice roll top maxi skirt which would disguise your tummy a bit and look nice with a vest top.

Hope you feel better soon and the operation works . . .

A roll top might feel quite comforting actually.. Are we thinking long skirts are go again, cos I loved my long skirts in 2004...and have kept them just in case

Well I'm liking them - something like this - they have a stripey version too . . .

Oh and h&m have a lovely jersey dress - very lightweight, floaty and lose fitting - spaghetti straps and racer back for £3.99 - in cobalt and jade green. Not on website but is a really good dress for this weather.

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/05/2012 18:35

loose fitting I meant!

In fact h&m worth a good rummage around.

Good call, actually my yoga roll down trousers have been the only thing Incan tolerate and they kind of support me when I'm walking. Internet shopping is a dangerous thing..thank you Smile I was eyeing up White Company linen dresses and the hush Michelle dress but I'm not sure if the hush one might be a bit swamping - does anyone have this?

I'm similar size to you and white co. linen dresses will be vast on you - they look ok from the front but too wide from the side view.

I've had 3 c-sections and loved roll top trousers - you're right they are comfy but supportive.

H&M also had some nice sheerish long vest tops that shaped up at the front - could look good over some super skinny type jeans - the really soft comfy types which are not too far away from leggings. In white with one of those vest tops over another vest top - would look good I think and also be comfortable.

whereismywine · 24/05/2012 18:45

3 sections, golly. This has made me realise that a c section is quite a big deal!

Oh c-sections a lot easier I'm sure.

Fingers crossed your surgery has the desired results Smile
