Has anyone had a tattoo removed? or used make-up to cover it up?

I'm looking to have a tattoo on my arm removed as I've disliked it from the moment I had it done tbh.

Has anyone had laser tattoo removal? How effective was it and how much did it cost? (for what size and colour tattoo and where on body?)

Also it will take me ages to save up for it so in the meantime I'd like to cover it with make up. Is this possible (it's black)? Any recommendations? Could I just go into debenhams/house of fraser and get them to show me how to do it?

I live between Leeds and York so if anyone knows good places to go I'd appreciate some tips please. I was thinking of sk:n as they seem a reputable chain.... has anyone any experience of them? They seem pricy but I imagine you get what you pay for and it's not worth risking a cheapie?

If you can help me thank you very much.... don't see why I should have to live with it forever especially as I get older and saggier bingo-winged arms it will look worse and worse

I know it's silly and I should have known before getting it done - I have two other tattoos I love, but I was young and went to a different tattooist (with a good reputation) and he didn't like the design I asked for and I let him convince me to do it differently - regretted it ever since and wish I'd been stronger.

It is possible to cover it, but might take practice for you to do it yourself. I did a specialist bridal makeup course last week that touched very briefly on tattoo coverage, and they recommended the 'Veil' tattoo coverage kit (google and you'll find it). The tutor also demonstrated cover up using dermacolor - you need to use a red based concealer to take out the blue tones and then cover with a skin-colour and powder between coats. I would assume that the Veil kit comes with instructions (or you may find tutorials on youtube??)

AND... the tutor said that she personally uses an airbrush to cover tattoos. You still need a red based colour to take out the blue tones, then cover up with a shade close to the skin. I have got a Dinair airbrush although never used it to cover a tattoo, there are demos on the website of how to do it - you can even get a stencil to add back moles etc to make it look more natural. This is the tutor's preferred/recommended way of covering, but might take a bit of time to get the hang of it.

Hope that helps. I have never had a tattoo and don't know about removal, but you should be able to get a quote if you call a cosmetic surgery clinic I would have thought. I imagine it's expensive, but I don't know really, sorry.

I've had a black tattoo about 2 inches square removed from my lower back.

It took ages, it really really hurt, way mire than the tattoo and it cost me in excess of 4 figures, I paid as I went though, usually in 4 session blocks so i didn't have to pay up front.

I'm sort of pleased with the result. Now the skin feels funny, I have quite a lot of scar tissue there but from a distance you can't see it and you'd gave to be looking for it to notice. With a tan you can't see it at all.

I could have had more sessions which would have removed it further but I'm quite olive skinned and it had started to remove the pigment from my skin and a White tattoo was not my aim!

I can't tell you how much it hurt though.

Oh, and you can't go in the sun when you're having it done.
