Help - moisturiser for 45 year old sensitive skin

I have very sensitive skin, and the only moisturiser I can currently use is Vaseline - everything else gives me a nasty eczema (sp?) type rash.

I've tried Dr Hauska, I've tried Neal's Yard, Barefoot, Weleda, Clinique etc etc all for sensitive skin, but always the same reaction.

Can anyone recommend anything else? I'm getting very wrinkly....!

My skin goes red very easily, I've used Avene for about 4 years and find it very good. There is a questionnaire on their website to fine out which products to use. I buy either from amazon or boots if it's on offer. I'm 42 btw

My mum has ultra sensitive skin and uses the Body Shop Vitamin E range - goes from thin daily lotion type thing to a rich nightcream if required....

Lush have one called British Nanny which has SPF in it, 25 I think, it is lovely on my sensitive skin. It costs about £25 though Sad but they give out fairly generous samples, I eked mine out for about a fortnight. I am back to Body Shop Vit E now and it's fine too, just not as lovely.

In the height of the summer when I want proper sun cream I use Ultrasun Face, it's the only one I have ever found which doesn't bring my face out in a rash.

Did you try the Dr Hauschka night treatment to calm down skin? I am your age and my skin has got much more sensitive, to the point of rosacea, and when it is having a flare up I use only Dr hauschka for a couple of months with the treatment ampoules. They are expensive , and they take a few weeks to work, but they do work and calm my skin down for months. I think you maybe need to give things time to work, as highly sensitive skin can get worse before getting better.

Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion

"Non-comedogenic Cetaphil® Moisturizing Lotion has a non-greasy formulation that is mild, non-irritating and long lasting. This gentle moisturizing formula contains emollients and humectants that bind moisture to the skin. This fragrance-free moisturizer contains no lanolins or parabens. Apply daily to dry skin as needed or as directed by a physician. Daily use of a moisturizer will help maintain your skin's integrity by enabling the skin to better retain moisture. This regimen should include the skin of the whole body, not just the face."

Cetaphil is pretty good for sensitive skin because it is so mild, you should be able to find one in your local chemist.

Aveeno? good colloidal stuff...

I use Simple.

It's for sensitive skin, doesn't smell, is SPF 15, is cheap and very often on offer. Normal price is around £6 but the last ones I bought were £3 in ASDA. :)

Oh, and they do another moisturiser which is available in SPF 25 and SPF 50. I haven't tried that one though.
