Stylish or frumpy frock?? Views, please!

What do you think of this, for general 'smartish' wear? Stylish or frumpy?

I'm a 5'9'' Size 22 hourglass. Would have to get it shortened or it would certainly be frumpy, as it looks on the model. Nor would I style it with the boring courts, etc she's wearing!.

Tend to shun Windsmoor like the plague, but thought this time that, if I'd seen the same dress in Hobbs, would perhaps have liked it and certainly tried it.

Not particularly keen on wrap dresses myself, but I agree I think it wouldn't look out of place in Hobbs or jigsaw, give it a whirl if it's your style

When it is shortened it will be fine. I think that it is just the Windsmoor name that is a bit off-putting!

Nope IMO. I think it's one of those wear to work dresses that once a person starts everyone else joins in. I think the wrap bit is OK but the pattern is ropey.

Nice shape - if you like wrap dresses (I do) but the pattern is a bit migraine-inducing.

It's the windsmoor label that's most off putting. But could work as a work outfit but would probably question the length! But if you are tall it could be an all right length. If not shorten it and should work.

Not really sure about the pattern, though bright blue is about the only 'bright' I actually like and it seems to have a touch of animal print, which I generally though not always, like. Guess I'd just have to see it in RL to know.

Agree would definitely have to shorten - i'm tall but 44'' would be too long ie frumpy, I'm pretty sure.

Interesting criterion about whether anyone rich or famous would wear a piece of clothing - not sure it would be practicable to apply that to all my purchases for my wardrobe.

I actually quite like it - there is a hint of DVF there. Very much strikes me as a winter dress though - can see it working with knee nigh boots or patent courts and opaques.

Also do agree its easier to think of it styled for autumn than now. Though until today weather has been pretty autumnal!

Windsmoor is very classic, good quality, a bit on the frumpy side. The style of the dress is lovely, I would wear it. The colours..I like. The pattern.. a wee bit frump (eg Per Una or M & Co style)

Not my kind of pattern, because I am scared of pattern personally, but I don't see why it should be called frumpy. It's all about how you style it, I think. Think footwear, accessories, etc. Nothing too busy, we don't want to fight with the dress!

But if pattern is remotely Per Una will NOT like it! i try to avert my eyes when going through that section now.

I think it's just the lining that's polyester, and the dress itself viscose and elastane like most/many jersey dresses, but will certainly check with Windsmoor.

Wrap dresses always look smart.

A few years ago I had a Great Plains one that cost about £20, and someone asked me if I had bought it at LK Bennett, because she had one just like it.

I actually quite like it but its not a good summer dress - would save it for colder weather and wear with boots and cobalt blue cardigan.

I like it, good basic smart dress. Wrap doesn't suit me or I'd be v tempted myself. How old are you OP?

'Mature', ie old by MN standards (DS grown up), but am told I don't look my age!

I don't think age is generally relevant to most fashion pieces, though I wouldn't say this was a dress was for 20-somethings.
