My skin is getting increasingly sensitive in my old age and lots of bouts of hormonal acne. I am currently using liz earle beauty products which seem to be holding my skin at bay. Any recommendations for a facial suncream - assuming we do get some good sun that is??

No7 do a good one SPF 50 they also have the £5 voucher deal going on to at the mo

I have terrible problems with suncream but have discovered that Simple do one specifically for faces which does not cause me any problems.

carrotsandcelery · 20/05/2012 23:01

The Simple one can be bought as factor 25 or factor 50.

MissFoodie · 21/05/2012 12:15

do you mean a cream to use every day under make up or for sitting in sun?
I use John Masters spf 30, either mix with moisturiser for daily use, or use alone for gardening/holiday

alternatively Aesop do an spf15 moisturiser in a tube

Hi, im new to mumsnet but i've been using a professional brand called RVB Sun Cellular Defence thats sold in my local salon, it sounds like the type of products your looking for as the sun range is a skin treatment too and even good on sensitive skins like my children have, so may be worth looking at, k x

FunnysInLaJardin · 21/05/2012 16:25

Clarind do a non greasy SPF40 cream which I used last summer under my makeup

Finbar · 21/05/2012 16:30

I highly recommend the SunSense brand - it's from Australia and they obviously know a thing or two about this area!

Available in John Lewis and probably lots of other places too. They do a matt version and a sort of tinted version too which is my favourite - all high factor rating a with no parabens etc.

The French brand Nuxe do a very light face sunscreen which disappears into your skin and can be worn under make up.

You should Never mix your sunscreen with anything ie moisturiser or foundation, mixing it changes the properties within the sunscreen and effectively dilutes it, your skin will not be protected as much if at all.

Moisturiser first and let it sink in for at least 15mins and then layer your sunscreen over the top

Roche Posay, tinted SPF 50+. Also do a non-tinted version.

I've decided to try and halt the freckles liver spots on my face and chest and have invested in the new Ultrasun SPF50 Face. QVC have free postage on it at the moment and you can send it back within 30 days if you don't like it. The reviews seem ok for it too.

expectingno2 · 22/05/2012 07:49

thank you all for you help - lots for me to look at.

ultrasun isnt bad but it does leave my face feeling a bit tight.

KellyKettle · 22/05/2012 09:03

I've been using a Mac primer with SPF 50 under make up. It's wonderful but the bottle is so tiny and I don't think it's going to last long.

Is the No7 SPF good under make up? Does it do that greasy sheen thing?

bubble2bubble · 22/05/2012 09:30

Another vote for Nuxe SPF 30 it is great under makeup, totally non greasy

Avene do an SPF 50 - which is also lovely for the face and specifically for people with sensitive skin? They do variations for dry skin/ combination skin etc as well

alwaysrunninginheels · 22/05/2012 09:33

La Roche posay50+ one is really nice. You can pick it up in boots!

lurkingaround · 22/05/2012 11:21

Another vote for La Roche Posay. They do one, I think it's called 'fluid', suitable for oily/combination. Also comes in white or tinted. I find the tinted very handy as the other one leaves a white film, makes me look a bit ghostly.

Or for everyday use under make-up I use Revision 50, which I get from the dermatologist. It's oil-free, and sinks right into your skin. I love it.

steph124 · 22/05/2012 11:52

Liz Earle do suncream now! If you don't want that Clarins facial suncream is amazing!

MissFoodie · 22/05/2012 12:50

LE is better for body, it is incredibly sticky (I reviewed it last year)

ChiefPotterer · 22/05/2012 12:53

I have read good reviews about the banana boat factor 30 powder dry lotion-its meant for the body but is supposed to be v good on face as not at all greasy-I tested a bit on my arm in boots and it felt lovely-Amazon has the best price for it.

monkeysmama · 22/05/2012 14:16

I love the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour face factor 50 sun cream or the Lancaster factor 30 one (it's usually £25 but is currently on offer in TKMaxx for £7.99)

AmazingDisgrace · 22/05/2012 14:17

Bare Minerals do one which is ace!
