What do you mean?

IslaValargeone · 19/05/2012 12:08

Ideally you want a doctor who specialises in aesthetic medicine.
Don't for god's sake go to your local beauty salon and let someone who has done a one day course and claims to be botox qualified go anywhere near you.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2012 12:20

I see, so the local beauty salon is a no-no then?

How long do the dr's train for then?

I have had it and went to a consultant plastic surgeon at a local hospital. He charges the same virtually as a hairdresser and is fully conversant with the body and takes a full medical history etc before agreeing to treat.

ninjanurse · 19/05/2012 12:51

You have to be a medically trained to be able to administer botox, ie a registered nurse, doctor or dentist. I have looked into doing it myself (am a nurse) it is a couple of days course. The ones who visit beauty salons should be registered nurses at the very least. But you would be best looking for a specialist in aesthetics.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/05/2012 12:52

My dentist does it and is very good.

If you're in Bath I'd recommend him

noddyholder · 19/05/2012 13:00

I agree someone with a good knowledge of the body and muscles and how it works will produce a natural result.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/05/2012 13:02

Yes - you definitely want someone who favours a 'light' touch in my opinion.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/05/2012 13:02

I would never get it on groupon or something like that personally.

noddyholder · 19/05/2012 13:03

Friend got it on groupon for £85 looks a mess!!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2012 13:09

Thats what worries me, that frozen look like some slebs have.

The woman in the "big house" (we live in a village) has had collagen lips that stand out a mile. It's so obvious.

Groupons best avoided ime for beauty stuff. I am waiting in vain for a roomba to come up though.

Noddy. Why does she look a mess?

itdidntworkout · 19/05/2012 17:19

Personally, I would only trust a Plastic Surgeon. Failing that, a Dermatologist. You may pay a bit more, but why bother risking it?

noddyholder · 19/05/2012 17:37

There is more in one area than the other. The area near the hairline and on one side of brow is a lot more 'done' and her eye is a bit droopy. The other side is less and still can move and has at least one deep line still there.Don't risk it!

Missielovelie · 19/05/2012 17:54

DONT DO IT. Its not worth it, whats wrong with a few wrinkles anyway.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/05/2012 18:00

Nothing wrong with wrinkles but I much prefer how I look with it.

Pretty sure dentists do an awful lot about the face as part of their studying.

What you really need is a recommendation as there's definitely an art to it.

noddyholder · 19/05/2012 18:01

Me too mrscb The difference is so subtle but I love it!

Missielovelie · 19/05/2012 18:14

I say look after your skin well and it will reward you with a youthful look for longer. Just buying the right cream for your skin type does wonders.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/05/2012 18:31

Genetics play a large part too Missie - I've always looked after my skin but haven't aged terribly well.

noddyholder · 19/05/2012 20:37

My skin is good but I had 3 lines on forehead caused by squinting to read and it has dealt with those.

PooPooInMyToes · 19/05/2012 21:01

Noddy. How long has she been like that!?
