How long does it take to see results?

If I start a really healthy eating plan (lots of fruit and veg, salmon, pints of water) and start exercising (walking and doing an exercise dvd each day) how long would it be before I would see a difference?

Not just weight but also improved skin and feeling better?

Thinking of doing some of the princessing things like body brushing, lemon water in the morning, giving up fizzy drinks and a few other things.

I have just reached the point (finally) when I am just sick of being fat and lazy and spotty. I am such an emotional eater but when I go on a diet I want instant results so when I don't get them I quit. This time I am in it for the long haul! I just can't keep on like this getting bigger and more miserable every year. I just want to cry when I look in the mirror .... I need to lose at least 4 stones (so scary writing that!) and my skin is so spotty and blotchy. I guess I have reached the point where I am ready to change.

Any book / supplement / dvd / food / magazine recommendations?

I did 30 day shred and nothing else and saw a difference within a week.

I tried weight watchers in the past and couldn't get along with it. Not sure I am cut out for groups!

I am trying to add in healthy food while reducing the unhealthy stuff I eat. Also trying to control emotional and mindless eating.

After not eating sugar /refined foods eg white bread and no booze I noticed an improvement in my skin in less than a week.

You can do Weight Watchers online, on your own. You don't have to attend groups. I lost four stone on WW a few years ago this way, and kept it off.

I lost a lot of weight (3 stoneish) over a few years through permanent (and not too tricky) changes to my lifestyle. But it did take a few years and sometimes I felt very discouraged not to see rapid change.

I think the time lag is about 3 months (in terms of weight/size) if you're doing sensible changes rather than crash diets etc. I wasn't weighing myself throughout and don't even know what my weight was at my biggest, just that I had just graduated to size 16 from 14.

If you're in for the long-haul I think it's easiest not to expect immediate changes.

I never got on with ww but I recently joined at work and the iPhone app alone is worth the membership money. It's brilliant!
I've got around 4 stone to lose too. Already lost 10lbs.Grin

Can I suggest throwing away your scales too - I lost weight when I stopped obsessing about it and focused on a) eating more healthily for my health, not weight (eg getting 7 portions of f&v a day, eating proper breakfast and making sure I ate protein, carbs and healthy fats, not denying myself anything though) and b) doing other stuff with my life to keep me busy. I only weighed myself when I visited my mum's once every few months. I dropped from 11st ish to 9st- 9'5 and remained that weight for years without even trying (am less now since getting pregnant, weirdly).

Oh and coming off the pill made a big difference too, I reckon I lost half a stone within a month of doing that.
