Best way to measure yourself for new bras?

I need to buy some nursing bras in the next week or 2. I don't drive and DH is away so I can't get to a shop to get measured. Nearest big town is an hour and half away by bus and there is no way I can do that at 35 weeks plus with 2 boys and bad SPD.

Last pregnancy I went to an independent lingerie shop in the next small town but that has now shut down.

They wouldn't measure me in Debenhams at 32 weeks as the size wouldn't be accurate.

I am currently in a 38DD that is underwired as it is the most comfortable one I have. But I have had it for quite a while. Probably a year, but it is so comfy.

I measured myself and ended up working out I was a 46E so I ordered one in that size from M&S and it was really loose.

I found this website that puts me at a 44D. Is that website likely to be accurate?

Thanks

Measuring yourself is easy really - best not to trust websites IME. Some are OK, most not.

Measure under your bust - don't add anything - that is your band size. Say, 40.

Measure over the fullest part of your bust. The difference between the two gives the cup size. 1 inch = 1 cup size. So, 40 under 40 over would be 40AA, 41 = A, 42 = B, 43 = C, 44 = D, 45 = DD and so on...

Does that make sense?

Good luck!

I measure 40 underbust and 45 over the fullest part. So that is a 40DD which makes much more sense.

Thank you, I'll get some ordered and go from there. Smile

Yeah, 40 DD sounds right for now. You will of course go up at least a cup size and maybe up to 4 cup sizes when you've given birth - it's impossible to know how much really.

I bought some lovely soft, stretchy feeding bras (almost crop top like really) for the first few weeks after the birth and then got some more structured ones after the first 6 weeks or so. The 40 DDs will fit you at some point in your BF career though so indeed well worth getting them as feeding bras.

my first size feeding bras were quite like this. Sexy hey!

I think I might get some of those. They look fairly comfy. Thanks
