Currently using Bare minerals Mineral Veil - mostly through the need to use up the botched purchase of Bare Minerals Pore Magnifying make up starter pack!

It's finally running out - what can I buy?

I love Clinique loose powder I'm always changing my foundation to try out new ones but this powder is the best.

EllieorOllie · 17/05/2012 08:31

I second clinique

HeeHeeHeeBum · 17/05/2012 10:15

Another vote for Clinque - the blended powder. Lasts forever too.

I'm really snobby about most make up, but loose powders all seem the same to me. I always end up getting rimmel or boots 17 cos I don't get what the difference is between a cheapo one and a high end one. Can someone enlighten me? I feel like I'm missing a trick.

Sali Hughes from the Guardian has some recommendations here. I might try the Boots No7 one next time I have a £5 voucher hanging around!

alwaysrunninginheels · 17/05/2012 12:58

Bought the new liz earl one at the weekend and its lovely!!!! Really finely milled and just fab!

MooMinCow · 17/05/2012 13:00

Ooh want to try that one Alwaysrunning. What kind of finish does it give?

alwaysrunninginheels · 17/05/2012 13:05

Just a really nice healthy one. It doesn't look terribly matt but no shine. Colour is lovely as its just invisible but gives a "finished" look! Blusher gorgeous too- despite the fact that on the tester stand the colours looked a bit boring once on the skin they look so flattering!

madmomma · 17/05/2012 13:08

thanks moomincowI want the clinique gentle light one now!

lurkingaround · 17/05/2012 13:15

I like laura mercier translucent powder.
It's the only one I've found that doesn't change the colour of my make-up.

Corn silk original satin loose powder. You can get it in Boots & some chemists. It's usually on the shelves where the skin care & lip balms are.

CointreauVersial · 17/05/2012 13:24

I use Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish - it has a little grinder which you turn, which creates a little amount of loose powder to apply.

I think some loose powders can look too matte/mask-like, and this one seems to have the right balance between coverage and sheer-ness.

It is about £25, but worth it as far as I'm concerned (I rarely buy other make-up as DH works for a cosmetics company!)

LossDePlott · 17/05/2012 13:27

I use two.

Chanel is the best, very closely followed by CornSilk, available in Boots.

badtasteflump · 17/05/2012 13:30

I use Tigi Bed Head 'Shake It'. Bought it because of the pretty packaging Blush but it's actually the best I've tried. Really light & un-cloggy and keeps my greasy dewy skin nice all day Smile

fluffiphlox · 17/05/2012 13:40

I have real problems with loose powder as it just seems to settle into the cracks and make me look like that character in Dickens who was aiming at an appearance of youth but had seriously overshot. (Possibly in Nicholas Nickleby).

warmandwooly · 17/05/2012 13:55

Hasn't Clinique discontinued one of their loose powders ( and Sali Hughes fave)

madmomma · 17/05/2012 15:01

warmandwoolyyep. Clinique gentle light

ElizaDoMore · 17/05/2012 15:20

Elf HD powder is good. Looks scarily like talc but blends well and gives a nice finish to make up.
