Mozzie repellents

I am allergic to these little buggers - every bite swells up and throbs painfully. In the past I've used Deet - but I hate the stuff, it stinks and it melts plastic and I always end up ruining something I own.

Apart from the Deet, I've tried little battery powered vibrating repellents. Consuming large quantities of B vits but they just love my blood, they seek me out and leave everyone else alone. I've tried administering a mild electric shock to the bite and hundreds of different anti-histamines but nothing works very effectively.

Any ideas?

You have my sympathies, I am a human insect repellent for everyone around me as the little buggers all just head my way.

I've tried everything, unfortunately the only thing that works for me is good ol Deet filled Jungle Formula!

I have no suggestions. Only sympathy. I got savaged a couple of years ago on Gozo. Local dr prescribed Clarityn and Fucicort- an anti biotic hydrocortisone cream. I was so desperate I hid behind a plant in the local air conditioned store to apply it. Grin

Neem oil for prevention and hydrocortisone cream for soothing the bites.

We use the Boots natural repellant and it works a treat, smells of citronella and lavender too :).

Like you, I seem to attract more than my fair share of the little sods and have acute reaction to the bites. A dab of lavender essential oil on the bite will bring down the inflammation and ease them.
