help! post top lip wax and spot breakout!

Ok, I have very fine hair on top lip. It's not very dark or probably not that noticeable, but it makes me paranoid, so every 6 weeks or so I wax. I exfoliate the day before. The next day I use veet facial wax strips. It takes just one wax strip each side. Rarely get redness after. However, the next day I always get tiny little spots in some of the pores. This lasts for about 4 days before settling down. Any advice on how to stop this happening would be greatly appreciated! (Salon waxing is not an option!) Thanks! :)

I used to get redness and spotty break out after waxing but then i was told by a beauty therapist to rub an ice cube over the area after a wax and to exfoliate the next day. Have been doing this ever since and spotty break out is now non existant. Good luck!

I use a great exfoliate called Sugar and Spice I found on the Muddy Carrot website. Smells absolutely fab - and my skin feels great after I've used it. Smile

I thread - when I first started, I used to get lots of breakouts - after many months of this, it reduced a lot, and now it hardly ever happens... maybe it will take time for your skin to get used to it?

In terms of tips: just make sure your skin is clean BEFORE you start, then maybe splash with really cold water after, and put a thin layer of sudocrem on the bits that look dodgy, that you think spots may pop up from - thats my routine really!

I agree with UML's advice, and would also say take care not to touch the area with your fingers afterwards as I think this transfers bacteria onto the skin which can cause spottiness. It's tempting to keep running your fingers over the skin to check it's smooth of course!

Also I find threading better than waxing for not 'annoying' my skin so much.
