Can anyone recommend a nice hair product to make hair look curly rather than fluffy?

I have quite naturally wavy/curly hair that I straighten most of the time. I would like to have the option of letting it dry naturally sometimes and wear it curly but it always goes all fluffy and horrible rather than having nice defined waves/curls. Does anyone have any recommendations for must have/can't live without products that you can put on your hair to take away that fluffy look leaving nice waves and curls?

I love John Frieda stuff, especially the dream curls spray and the purple serum. That contains silicone though, so is really not great for your hair. I've been trying to wean myself off John frieda recently, and my hair is just a fluffy mess. Have you tried the curly girl/'no (sham)poo' method? My friend had excellent results with this, but it takes a while to figure out.

I use John Frieda Frizzease too. Serum is definitely the answer to get some gloss on your curls. Also try ringleting them around your finger once you've popped product on to get a bit more definition rather than frizz. Maybe add a shine spray at the end too?

I second the dream curls spray.

How do you dry it? maybe this is fluffing it up, depending on how i dry mine it can be ringlets, waves or just a fluffy mess.

Also how is it cut, I recently discovered that if you get it blunt cut and rather than teh hairdresser cutting into the layers it will dry much better when curly and is actaully easier to straighten.

RIGHT.

You might find that as you have been straightening a long time, it takes a while for your hair to curl/wave properly. That might be part of the reason. Is you hair dry? Mine is - very - so I only was with a silicone-free conditioner. Then I normally use a light gel like an Aussie one (can't remember the name - might be miracle moist?) but I like the John Frieda stuff too. The spray is good, but I find I either put too much on so my hair is sticky, or not enough so it fluffs in places. A good serum is a must too - FrizzEase one is good, so is the VO5 Argan oil one if your hair is like mine and DRINKS product!

I also 'plop' my hair for 10ish minute while I put make up on before I use the hairdryer (I like volume which I don't get when I air dry) which is basically when you turn your hair upside down and wrap it in a towel. You need to use a T shirt or microfibre towel though as a normal one is damaging. Look on Youtube for videos on how to plop as I can't explain it well!

Kerastase Oleo-Curl creme is the thing you are looking for. Soft, defined curls, no fluff, exactly what you want.

John freeda stuff is good and is what I mostly use. However, the only products I have found that always give me lovely defined curls are tony and guy label m (only available in salons I think) I use the curl cream, give hair a good scrunch and the twirl some sections round my fingers for extra definition. I the defuse gently but don't completely dry hair. I then let.my hair 'rest' while I do my make up and then finish hair with label m souffle by using a small amount and scrunching.
