Anyone used a dermo roller? Any good?

I was talking to a colleague about crepey eyes (as you do Grin). She is going to a salon which I have used before and they have sold her a dermo roller to use on her skin. They also suggested in could be used on the eye area to reduce lines/crepeyness (sp??)

She brought it in to show me today & I have to say I'm a bit nervous. It seems like it'll hurt like hell around the eye area & I don't want to make it any worse? Anyone out there used/using one? On the eyes?

I looked into having it done but it seemed to me like a lot of pain and a big wodge out of the wallet without guaranteed results. Not for me and what about infection from piercing the skin Hmm

Oooh hadn't thought about infection! Just seems a bit odd to be rolling the delicate eye area with loads of little needles Confused. Course, if it works, that would be a different matter!

I suspect that it's one of those things that is really hard to do yourself, due to the ouch factor!

A bit like waxing!

I think that cosmetic drs numb the skin first so that it's not too unpleasant. I also think there are different types of rollers for different areas of your face.

It does damage the skin and then as it heals the collagen is supposed to repair itself. I've heard that you can expect a 50% improvement on whatever you are trying to improve.

Thanks amelia - I just found another thread where people were talking about them recently.

I wouldn't mind trying it on my cheeks or chin area but am worried about rolling my eyes with one and that's the area that I'm trying to do something about. If it does damage the skin there it's going to be very noticeable.

Also just been looking at eye secrets - the little things that stick on your eyelid & lift the area. Sounds much less risky!

Afaik, the idea is to stimulate collagen production. I don't know anyone who's used it. I did read Angelina Jolie used it but I'd wonder.

Agree with sugarice, I'd have concerns about infection. A Dr. might disinfect first, but you're unlikely to do this at home. And if you were getting it done at a dr's, I'd rather spend the money on laser treatment or fillers that are definitely going to give results.

My gp is also a cosmetic doctor and does it. You are marked by it initially i think
