I would get to a GP if I were you.

  1. They sound quite bad and are painful
  2. They are leaving scars. Scars cannot be magic-ed away.
So it sounds like they need treatment.

Have you ever had spots/acne? It could be acne, jaw-line acne is often hormone related, but you need a GP to have a look and take it from there.

Oh just saw you never really had spots. Still could be acne. Adult onset acne is quite common. If it is acne, your GP can help with treatment, watch your dairy intake, (further info here).

Acne on neck and jaw is hormone induced.

You need to see your GP.

In the meantime, Cetaphil or oil cleansing method, but thi will only treat them as they appear, it cant stop them erupting - only prescription meds can do that.

See your GP :) I suffered for years with this.

I sympathise. A few years ago I suffered depression and had lots of spots around my neck/jawline. Def see yr Dr. Good luck!

oasis you have my sympathies. I've got similar sounding carbuncles on my chin and finally plucked up the courage to book a GP appt this morning. I was terribly worried in case they thought it was a piss poor reason to take up a slot; but as someone said above - they're scaring and affecting my quality of life like you. Pick up the phone and make an appointment, the relief was tremendous (haven't been yet - I'm such a 'narna!)

Watching this with interest. I suffer from this too - the rest of my face is OK but I get big hard spots all round my neck and jaw and feel really self conscious about them - but never considered it would be worth consulting a GP about. Hope to hear how you get on OP - good luck.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/05/2012 21:59

I would say gp too, in the meantime I would avoid alcohol, high sugar food, drink 2ltrs of water a day and apply a thin layer of sudocreme to them at night.

Fozzleyplum · 15/05/2012 23:06

Watching too. I never had spots, but got neck/jawline ones when pregnant and I keep getting them now - a couple at a time (and have not been pregnant for 8 years).
Annoyingly, they don't squeeze well, but just go hard.

RamblingRosa · 16/05/2012 08:42

Me too! I've got one at the moment. I think it's hormonal as they keep cropping up the week or two before my period.

I've found that looking after the skin on my neck a bit better has helped. I used to treat it like the rest of my body rather than the skin on my face IYSWIM. I would just wash my neck with shower gel in the shower and not put on any moisturiser. I've started cleansing it with a cloth when I cleanse my face and make sure I put moisturiser on. It's made a bit of an improvement but I'm still getting the odd one.

snoozingbeauty · 16/05/2012 13:27

Don't put Sudocreme on! Itmade mine worse. It's all about congestion and it gathers in this area. Cleansing with something like this www.mamamio.com/uk/face/clean-slate.html and exfoliating too will help. Good luck with your docs appt! :-) x
